The Financial Data Analyst serves as a critical partner to our regulatory reporting business teams, helping identify and manage the data essential for meeting compliance and reporting requirements. This role is instrumental in ensuring data integrity, quality, and accessibility across our IT Finance segment. You'll work at the intersection of data management, regulatory compliance, and technology, collaborating with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain robust data governance practices. This position offers the opportunity to shape how our organization leverages data for regulatory purposes while building data literacy and best practices across the business segment.
Responsibilities:
- Support the mapping of metadata, business definitions, and data lineage into business or enterprise-wide tools
- Assist in managing business segment-specific reference data to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Support effective data management and governance practices, ensuring adherence to organizational Data Policy and standards while participating in change management initiatives
- Collaborate closely with Segment Data Managers, Segment Data Officers, Data Analysts, Data Trustees & Curators, and technology partners throughout the entire data lifecycle
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing data quality within the business segment
- Participate in fit-for-purpose analysis of data to validate its suitability for regulatory reporting requirements
- Assist in identifying and profiling Critical Data Elements (CDEs) to establish data priorities
- Help manage and maintain the inventory of data-related controls that support key business processes
- Partner with the Chief Data & Architecture Office (CDAO) Data Literacy team to support and advance literacy efforts within the business
- Document comprehensive data quality rules and workflows for AWS Glue and Airflow development teams to monitor data pipelines effectively
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Junior Analysts in designing and building reports using Tableau or Power BI
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support team objectives
The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 5+ years of banking or financial services experience
- 3-5 years of hands-on data experience with data discovery, data quality, regulatory reporting, and/or data governance
- Proficiency with Snowflake for data warehousing and management
- Experience with data visualization tools including Tableau and Power BI
- Strong competency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working within AWS (Amazon Web Services) environments
- Programming skills in PL/SQL and Python
- Prior experience participating in data-related projects or programs (preferred)
- Knowledge of data management and governance policies, standards, metrics, controls, and processes (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences (preferred)
- Business outcome-focused approach with ability to align data initiatives with organizational goals (preferred)
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to navigate complex data challenges (preferred)
