Position Overview:

We are seeking a Lead Data Modeler with deep expertise in SAP ECC/BW data models to act as a Solution Architect for our client program on an enterprise scale. In this role, you will own end-to-end solution architecture across Discovery, Design, Development, Validation, and Deployment, defining scalable frameworks across Bronze, Silver, Gold, Semantic, and Product data layers. You will leverage your SAP domain knowledge to design and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, translate complex CPG, Sales, and Finance business requirements into robust data solutions, and drive technical alignment across workstreams. This is a high-impact leadership role that blends deep technical expertise with direct client engagement and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities:

Solution Architecture & Design

  • Own and govern the overall solution architecture for large-scale data engineering programs.
  • Define scalable, reusable, and enterprise-grade architectural frameworks across data ingestion, processing, transformation, semantic, and product layers.
  • Establish architecture standards, design principles, reference architectures, and implementation guidelines.
  • Define and promote reusable design patterns, frameworks, and accelerators to improve delivery efficiency.
  • Review and approve technical designs, data models, and implementation approaches before development.

SAP Data Modeling & ETL Engineering

  • Apply deep expertise in SAP ECC and BW source tables to design and optimize data models for ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Lead enterprise data modeling initiatives across conceptual, logical, and physical layers, with a strong understanding of CPG, Sales, and Finance business processes.
  • Ensure alignment between business KPIs, reporting requirements, and data architecture across workstreams.
  • Collaborate with Data Governance teams to implement metadata management, data quality controls, lineage tracking, and compliance standards.

Data Engineering & Platform Leadership

  • Design and deliver modern cloud-native data platforms using Azure and Databricks, ensuring optimal performance across all data layers.
  • Drive data integration, transformation, data quality, and performance optimization strategies at scale.
  • Provide architectural guidance on scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability of enterprise data solutions.
  • Support deployment readiness, production stabilization, and architecture reviews.

Technical Leadership & Mentoring

  • Guide workstream architects, data engineers, and development teams on architecture and implementation best practices.
  • Perform hands-on technical reviews of code, pipelines, notebooks, and solution implementations, and engage directly to analyze, review, and optimize where needed.
  • Identify opportunities for performance optimization and provide recommendations to improve maintainability across teams.
  • Mentor junior architects and engineers, fostering technical excellence and architectural consistency across teams.

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

  • Partner directly with business stakeholders and SMEs to translate CPG, Sales, and Finance requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Drive architecture governance forums and technical design discussions with client-side teams.
  • Manage and resolve cross-workstream dependencies, risks, and technical blockers to maintain program momentum.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, and data engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical lead or architect capacity.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with SAP ECC and SAP BW source tables and data structures used in ETL/ELT pipelines and data engineering workflows.
  • Strong proficiency in enterprise data modeling: conceptual, logical, and physical models across multi-layer data platforms (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Semantic, Product).
  • Solid understanding of CPG and/or Retail Domain, to include Sales, and Finance business processes and their corresponding data flows and reporting requirements.
  • Experience designing and delivering cloud-native data platforms on Azure, including data integration, transformation, and governance at enterprise scale.
  • Proven ability to engage directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, drive alignment, and present technical solutions clearly.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience guiding cross-functional engineering teams and resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Experience with Data Governance frameworks, metadata management, data quality controls, and lineage tracking.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks for large-scale data engineering and analytics workloads.
  • Familiarity with modern data lakehouse architectures.
  • Prior consulting or client-facing experience in a Fortune 500 environment, particularly within CPG or retail sectors.
