Vice President of Finance
Location: Libertyville, IL
Compensation: $180,000 - $200,000 + bonus
About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established and growing organization in the Chicago area, is seeking a Vice President of Finance to join its executive leadership team. This position will serve as a strategic business partner to the CEO and executive leadership team while overseeing all aspects of financial planning, reporting, forecasting, treasury management, and financial operations.
The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of progressive finance leadership with experience driving business performance, enhancing financial processes, and supporting organizational growth. Candidates with a combination of public accounting, corporate finance, and executive leadership experience will be highly considered.
Responsibilities
- Lead the organization's financial strategy, planning, and analysis efforts
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes
- Provide executive leadership with actionable financial insights and business recommendations
- Direct budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and long-range planning activities
- Partner with business leaders to drive profitability, operational efficiency, and strategic growth initiatives
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies
- Oversee treasury, banking relationships, debt management, and capital allocation strategies
- Lead internal and external audit activities
- Develop and strengthen financial controls, policies, and risk management processes
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing finance and accounting teams
- Evaluate and enhance financial systems, reporting tools, and business intelligence capabilities
- Support mergers, acquisitions, integrations, and other strategic transactions as needed
- Present financial results and recommendations to executive leadership, boards, and investors when applicable
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 12+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing finance and accounting teams
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
- Experience partnering with executive leadership and influencing business decisions
- Demonstrated success leading financial process improvements and organizational growth initiatives
- Advanced Excel and ERP system experience
- CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and presentation skills
Preferred Background
- Career progression demonstrating increasing levels of financial leadership and strategic responsibility
- Experience within manufacturing, distribution, professional services, healthcare, technology, or other complex operating environments
- Prior responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, accounting, treasury, and financial reporting functions
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and supporting organizational growth
- History of building and developing high-performing teams
- Strong tenure and demonstrated track record of success within prior organizations
