My client based in Westmeath is seeking a Data Analyst to join an established and expanding data team. This is a perm role. The position will focus on using data to answer key business questions, improve performance and support better commercial and operational decisions. You'll work with a broad range of datasets and collaborate with teams across data, technology and the wider business.

The role offers plenty of scope to go beyond standard reporting, with an emphasis on investigating data, spotting patterns and providing recommendations that can make a measurable difference. You'll take ownership of analytical requirements from initial investigation through to presenting findings and recommendations.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Interrogate and analyse large, complex datasets to answer business questions and uncover useful insights.
  • Identify patterns, emerging trends, potential risks and opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Develop analysis that supports commercial, operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Work alongside Data Engineers to understand data availability, quality and structure.
  • Collaborate with reporting and visualisation specialists to improve dashboards and management information.
  • Add context and interpretation to reporting, helping stakeholders understand what the data means and what actions should be considered.
  • Communicate findings in a straightforward and engaging way to stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Help improve data quality, governance and analytical processes.
  • Investigate opportunities to introduce more advanced analytics, including machine learning and AI techniques.
  • Contribute ideas and best practices as the organisation continues to develop its data and analytics capabilities.

The successful candidate will have:

  • 5+ years' professional experience working in data analysis, analytics or reporting.
  • A relevant third-level qualification in areas such as Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems or a similar discipline.
  • Strong hands-on SQL experience and confidence working with large datasets.
  • Experience with data extraction, transformation, manipulation and segmentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn raw data into useful business conclusions.
  • 2+ years' experience using Python or R for data analysis.
  • A solid understanding of databases, data models and data structures.
  • Good knowledge of Business Intelligence concepts and reporting practices.
  • Practical experience with at least one major BI platform such as Power BI, Tableau or Qlik.

Nice to Have

Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:

  • Financial services or another highly data-driven sector.
  • Predictive modelling or advanced analytics.
  • Machine learning or AI-related analytical projects.

You'll be comfortable taking ownership of your workload and working through analytical problems with limited supervision. You'll have the curiosity to dig deeper into the data rather than simply producing reports based on predefined requirements.

You'll also need strong stakeholder skills. The role involves working with people across technical and business functions, so being able to explain analytical concepts and recommendations clearly is essential.
