Job Title: AI Platform Engineer

Company: Honda

Location: Marysville, OH (hybrid, 4 days/ week onsite)

Type: W2 Contract (long term)


The AI Platform Engineer is responsible for building, operating, and continuously improving the core platform capabilities that enable development, deployment, and scaling of AI solutions across Honda’s enterprise environment.

This role focuses on implementing platform services, APIs, and infrastructure that support the AI software development lifecycle, including model integration, orchestration, deployment, and monitoring. Working under architectural guidance, the engineer ensures platform components are reliable, secure, and reusable, enabling application teams to efficiently develop and deploy AI-enabled solutions.

The position emphasizes hands-on engineering, cloud platform operations, and automation, ensuring AI workloads execute consistently and efficiently across environments. Through collaboration with platform, data, and application teams, the AI Platform Engineer contributes to improving developer experience, accelerating adoption of AI capabilities, and maintaining stable, scalable platform operations.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • List the key accountabilities that must be carried out to fulfil the job purpose.
  • AI Platform Architecture & Engineering: Working knowledge of cloud-based development, APIs, and AI service integration; ability to build and enhance platform components that support enterprise AI use cases.
  • Develops and maintains APIs, microservices, and workflows that enable AI and agent-based applications.
  • Implements AI solutions using AWS Bedrock, AgentCore, and related services under defined architectural guidance.
  • Contributes to reusable components, templates, and shared services that improve development efficiency.
  • Ensures that all implementations align with established architecture standards, coding practices, and security requirements.
  • Participates in design discussions and contributes technical input to improve platform capabilities.
  • Platform Operations & Support: Understanding of system monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational processes; ability to maintain stability and performance of platform services.
  • Monitors platform health and performance, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Supports deployment and operation of AI services in development, testing, and production environments.
  • Participates in incident response activities, including root cause analysis and remediation.
  • Maintains operational documentation and contributes to runbooks and support procedures.
  • Assists in implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
  • Cloud Infrastructure & Automation: Knowledge of AWS services and DevOps practices; ability to contribute to infrastructure automation and deployment processes.
  • Develops and maintains infrastructure components using Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
  • Supports CI/CD pipeline implementation and optimization for platform services.
  • Builds and deploys cloud-native applications following best practices for scalability and reliability.
  • Assists in improving automation processes to increase deployment speed and consistency.
  • Ensures adherence to security and compliance standards in all implementations.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Learning: Ability to work effectively in team environments and continuously develop technical expertise in AI and cloud technologies.
  • Collaborates with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver platform features and enhancements.
  • Participates in code reviews, design sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Continuously builds knowledge of AI platforms, cloud technologies, and engineering best practices.
  • Applies feedback and learning to improve individual and team performance.
  • Contributes to a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • Minimum Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in software or cloud engineering
  • Minimum Experience
  • Exposure to AI/ML or generative AI technologies and concepts
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code tools
  • Basic understanding of monitoring, logging, and system observability
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud-native application development
  • Programming experience in Python, Java, or similar languages
  • Familiarity with APIs, microservices, and DevOps practices
  • Other Job-Specific Skills
  • Experience operating in large, federated enterprise environments

  • Data Teams: Assists with integrating data sources into AI workflows and services

The salary range for this position is $70 to $90/ hour W2. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
