Overview
We are currently seeking an IT Support Specialist to support a large IT program serving the Department of Veteran Affairs. This role involves deploying and configuring various computer hardware at VA medical centers and offsite locations, emphasizing strong technical skills and customer service. The position is onsite and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to important federal projects, with potential evening and weekend hours as needed.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in IT, CS, EE, IS with 1 year of experience. OR HS diploma or GED, with 8 years of professional work experience in lieu of a degree.
Clearance Requirements
Public Trust clearance is required, meaning US Citizenship or a Green Card is necessary.
Work Arrangement
On-Site 5 days - Leavenworth, KS.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, image, and set up equipment including PCs, laptops, docking stations, monitors, printers, scanners, and network connections.
- Unbox, configure, install, remove, and re-pack hardware for shipment.
- Set up equipment at various training sites and offsite locations.
- Transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds around the campus.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including system imaging and hardware repairs.
- Support routine system administration tasks and document processes.
- Provide excellent customer service while working independently.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in imaging and installing computer equipment.
- Ability to unpack, move, and install pallets of IT equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Personal transportation available during work hours.
- Experience with hardware and software support, troubleshooting, and system deployment.
- Ability to work on-site at VA medical centers with frequent movement and setup of IT equipment.
- HS diploma or GED, with 8 years of professional work experience in lieu of a degree, or a Bachelor's Degree in IT, CS, EE, IS with 1 year of experience.
- Experience with the ServiceNow ticketing system is a plus.
- Knowledge of working with VA systems and protocols.
This pay range is based on qualifications and experience and assumes all role requirements are met.
