SQA Automation Engineer for UniFi Cloud

Overview
We’re looking for a technically strong and user-focused Cloud QA Engineer to join our UniFi Cloud Service team. This role plays a key part in ensuring our cloud platform delivers a reliable, scalable, and seamless experience across distributed systems.
The focus is on building scalable test systems, validating cloud services, APIs, and networking behaviors under real-world conditions, while continuously improving QA efficiency through automation and AI-assisted workflows.
You’ll take ownership of end-to-end validation across cloud, backend, and networking layers, with strong emphasis on automation, system reliability, and quality at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Automation & AI-driven QA
- Design and implement automated test strategies across API, integration, and end-to-end flows
- Build and maintain automation frameworks (Python preferred) and integrate with CI/CD
- Leverage AI tools to generate test cases, improve automation, and debug issues
- Evaluate AI-generated outputs and improve QA efficiency through AI-assisted workflows
- Own validation across cloud services, APIs, networking, and distributed system interactions
- Cover service-to-service flows, data consistency, and failure handling
- Validate real-world scenarios including deployment, upgrade, connectivity, and long-running usage
- Perform load/stress testing to ensure system behavior at scale
- Debug issues across cloud, backend, and networking layers using logs and observability tools
- Validate authentication, authorization, and access control
- Ensure reliable and secure system behavior under different conditions
- Work with developers and PMs to define quality standards and release criteria
- Provide clear bug reports with repro steps, logs, and impact
- Drive improvements in QA processes, automation coverage, and tooling
- Proven ability to design and execute end-to-end test strategies for cloud or distributed systems
- Strong hands-on ability in Python for building automation frameworks and test tooling
- Solid experience with automation frameworks (Pytest, Playwright, or Selenium)
- Hands-on experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins)
- Strong working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VLAN, VPN)
- Ability to perform API and backend validation, including authentication flows (tokens, sessions, OAuth)
- Strong debugging capability across cloud services, networking, and backend systems
- Practical use of AI tools to improve test design, automation, and debugging workflows
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to drive issues to resolution
- Hands-on knowledge of AWS infrastructure and core services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM), focusing on networking, security, and service integration
- Experience with large-scale SaaS or distributed systems
- Familiarity with Docker / Kubernetes
- Experience with observability tools (logs, metrics, tracing)
- Familiarity with authentication and identity systems (OAuth, SSO)
