Software Methods is seeking a full-time Data Architecture and Engineering Lead to assist our client in the Media, PA area. This is 100% on-site. Client will only considering local candidates.


The Data Architecture and Engineering Lead will work closely with leaders across the organization to design, implement, and maintain a data platform that will support and implement high-quality, data-driven decisions. They will ensure data accuracy and consistent reporting by designing and creating optimal processes and procedures for analytics employees to follow. The right person for the job will apply their exhaustive knowledge of data architecture to solve real-world problems faced by our company and find opportunities for improvement across multiple projects, teams and business units.


Key Responsibilities:

Architecture & Strategy

  • Define and evolve the enterprise data architecture strategy across cloud and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Design modern data platforms utilizing Lakehouse patterns, Delta Lake/Iceberg strategies, and medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers).
  • Translate complex business and regulatory requirements into scalable, secure, and resilient data models.
  • Evaluate emerging data technologies, including AI/ML data integration platforms and streaming frameworks.

Engineering & Pipeline Execution

  • Lead the design, optimization, and scaling of high-volume ETL/ELT data pipelines and Change Data Capture (CDC) workflows.
  • Implement automated CI/CD deployment strategies, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and rigorous data testing frameworks.
  • Drive performance tuning, workload optimization, and cloud cost governance across distributed data.

Governance & Leadership

  • Establish and enforce data quality frameworks, lineage tracking, and observability practices.
  • Act as a technical mentor and leader, conducting architecture reviews and championing software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.
  • Partner cross-functionally with analytics teams, IT teams, security teams, and business stakeholders


Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing data architecture.
  • Strong programming skills with common language used in modern analytics: Python, SQL, etc.
  • Strong data modeling experience utilizing various techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience working with and configuring cloud based (AWS) architectures.
  • Experience building, monitoring, and maintaining data pipelines for both reporting and integration purposes.
  • Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities.
  • Strong ability to plan and manage numerous processes, people and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and delegation skills.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Snowflake)
  • Experience with data visualization tools: Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik, etc.
  • Practical exposure to AI/ML technology preferred.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
