Compensation:

  • Annual Salary Range: $44,387.20 - $54,182.82
  • Hourly Pay Range: $21.34 – $26.05


Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This Human Resource position is located in Topeka, at the District One Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Human Resources. This position is responsible for providing technical expertise which requires analytical thought and a high degree of concentration in multiple human resource areas including but not limited to Employment, Benefits, Employee Relations, Recruitment, and Classification.


Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides functional leadership and guidance to the area Office personnel regarding human resource practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Conducts hiring process for district headquarters employees to explain how to complete forms and to explain state employee benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, etc. Reviews and verifies the accuracy of the completed paperwork packages received by the district from the area offices for new hires, rehires, reinstatements, promotions, terminations, transfers, retirements, etc. by preparing and maintaining detailed checklists.
  • Reviews incoming employment applications for open positions. Prepares new job requisition/application folder for each position approved to fill. Tracks and monitors all incoming employment applications and sends replies to each applicant. Answers questions from the public related to open and closed advertised positions and occasionally schedules interviews in the District Headquarters Office.
  • Oversee three (3) separate progression programs and training program reclassifications for the district. Keeps tracking information up-to-date in LMS and the Personnel Portal.
  • Analyzes new Shared Leave requests, reviews for completeness, calculates hours needed for committee review, and completes processing.
  • Coordinates drug and alcohol testing program for the district.
  • Presents training to district staff and area staff on new processes and procedures

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in planning, directing, organizing, managing or administering personnel or human resources functions. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

  • Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment.
