Your new company

Join a public sector organisation undergoing continued improvement across its technology services environment. The organisation is seeking an experienced Change, Release and Configuration Manager to provide leadership, governance, and professional guidance across its IT service management processes.


Your new role

Reporting within Technology Services, you will provide direction and leadership across Change, Configuration and Release Management. You will support operational and project teams in understanding and appropriately incorporating these disciplines into their activities, while providing professional advice to management, business stakeholders, system owners, and Information and Technology staff.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the Change Management function and ensuring Requests for Change are appropriately categorised, assessed, prioritised, compliant, and approved before implementation
  • Investigating unauthorised, failed, and emergency changes to identify and action improvement opportunities
  • Overseeing Configuration Management, with a particular focus on Software Asset Management, asset management, and service and infrastructure configuration
  • Managing the release lifecycle, including scheduling, cross-team coordination, and deployment
  • Ensuring testing, validation, and configuration management are incorporated into release and deployment activities
  • Establishing, maintaining, and continually improving operational processes, templates, and governance artefacts
  • Monitoring process compliance and preparing management reports
  • Chairing the Change Advisory Board and managing associated artefacts, including Terms of Reference and minutes
  • Collaborating with other ITIL process owners to improve service delivery and promote active ITIL processes
  • Managing Asset Team employees and contractors, including interviewing, performance management, skills assessment, training, and mentoring


What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you will bring demonstrated experience across Change, Release and Configuration Management. You will be confident applying governance and best-practice processes, advising senior and technical stakeholders, managing compliance, and coordinating releases across multiple teams. Experience with Software Asset Management, ITIL processes, Change Advisory Boards, and team leadership will be central to the position.


You will also demonstrate strong leadership behaviours and contribute positively to a values-led organisational culture.
