Senior Java Backend / Full-Stack Engineer

Location: Roanoke, VA

Job Type: Contract


We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Backend / Full-Stack Engineer to develop scalable, secure, and high-performance applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, databases, APIs, and cloud technologies.


Responsibilities


  • Design and develop Java/Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs.
  • Build scalable and reliable backend applications.
  • Design, optimize, and manage databases and SQL queries.
  • Develop and maintain cloud-based solutions using AWS.
  • Implement unit and integration testing and participate in code reviews.
  • Work with Kafka/RabbitMQ and event-driven architectures.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on system design and integrations.
  • Contribute to CI/CD, automation, and Agile development practices.


Required Skills


  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • Strong Java and Spring Boot expertise.
  • Hands-on experience with microservices and REST APIs.
  • Strong SQL and database design knowledge.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL.
  • AWS cloud experience.
  • Experience with testing and messaging platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
