Application and Support Engineer - Java

We are opening an Application and Support Engineer - Java position to strengthen a technical support team based in Geneva. The role is part of a business applications environment responsible for supporting critical enterprise systems and ensuring their stability, availability, and continuity. You will act as a key point of contact for users and technical teams, contributing to incident resolution, operational monitoring, application support, and the smooth coordination of production activities.
Responsabilities
- Provide functional and technical support for business applications, managing incidents and service requests through the appropriate ticketing tools and ensuring issues are resolved within agreed service levels.
- Monitor application availability, performance, and operational notifications, taking appropriate action or escalating issues when required.
- Investigate production incidents and system defects, reproduce technical problems, and implement or coordinate corrective actions such as data fixes and configuration changes.
- Carry out regular production activities, system checks, scheduled operations, and data analysis while ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- Work closely with business users, technical teams, and external service providers to investigate issues, validate solutions, and maintain service continuity.
- Participate in testing activities associated with application enhancements, fixes, and new releases, and confirm that implemented solutions operate as expected.
- Maintain and improve operational documentation, user guides, knowledge articles, and support procedures.
- Contribute to the automation, optimization, and security of operational processes and production schedules, with particular attention to system reliability and data integrity.
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience supporting and managing production environments, ideally involving Java-based applications and relational databases.
- Strong experience in troubleshooting complex technical issues, including advanced or third-level production support.
- Solid understanding of software development life cycles and CI/CD practices, particularly in relation to the deployment of application updates and fixes.
- Strong technical knowledge of Java, SQL, relational databases, XML processing, data management, and production data flows.
- Good understanding of IT service management processes, including incident, problem, change, and service request management.
- Experience with application monitoring and with designing or improving processes to automate and streamline operational activities; AWS experience is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to remain effective when handling critical issues under pressure and to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication and knowledge-sharing skills, with excellent English proficiency; intermediate French is an advantage.
