The Must-Haves
- 5+ years in Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Engineering, with primary expertise in Terraform and IaC Architecture
- Deep, advanced proficiency with Terraform, including architecting scalable module libraries, state management, environment separation, and establishing code reusable across multi-project environments.
- Hands-on experience managing Google Cloud (GCP) environments, specifically provisioning and managing Shared VPCs, IAM hierarchies, and Cloud SQL using declarative IaC.
- Proven experience building, testing, and managing automated IaC pipelines in Azure DevOps (e.g., automated plan/apply workflows, drift detection, static analysis, and policy enforcement).
- Proficiency with Ansible for configuration management to complement Terraform's provisioning layer.
- Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration (GKE/Kubernetes vs. VMs) to design scalable, elastic cloud architecture.
- Strong Linux administration background with a solid command-line foundation for low-level infrastructure debugging.
- IaC Architecture & Standardization (Terraform): Own and modernize the global Terraform ecosystem—moving away from manual infrastructure changes to dynamic, version-controlled module libraries that eliminate configuration drift.
- Automated CI/CD for Infrastructure: Build robust Azure DevOps pipelines tailored specifically for infrastructure releases, embedding automated testing, validation, and automated pull-request checks.
- GCP Cloud Architecture: Partner with engineering teams to design resilient GCP foundations (networking, IAM, database instances) purely defined through code.
- Technical Mentorship & Governance: Act as the senior voice for IaC standards—establishing code review practices, module documentation, and guiding developers on IaC best practices.
- Compute & Container Strategy: Help architect the next phase of workloads, evaluating when services should migrate to container orchestration versus managed cloud services or VMs.
- Reliability & Resilience: Collaborate with teams to define system health, observability, and infrastructure resiliency standards, participating in an on-call rotation to maintain operational availability.
- You lead the shift from manual work to automation by creating clear standards and driving consistent adoption across teams.
- You partner effectively with developers to unblock deployments, using strong troubleshooting judgment and a calm, systematic approach.
- You have the ability to understand application dependencies and troubleshoot build/deployment errors to unblock developers in mixed environments.
- You balance modernization decisions pragmatically, helping teams choose between containers and VMs based on what each workload needs.
Disclosures
- Washington state employees are eligible for up to 56 hours of paid sick leave annually.
Compensation decisions are made based on the specific circumstances of each hire to ensure fair and competitive pay.
