What you’ll do
The Data Governance Analyst is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maturing the organization's enterprise data governance program. This role serves as the primary resource for defining governance processes, improving data quality, developing data standards, and promoting responsible data management across the organization.
As TrueScripts continues to expand its use of data, analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence, this position will help ensure data is trusted, consistent, secure, compliant, and well understood across business and technology teams. The Data Governance Analyst will work closely with business stakeholders, operational teams, leadership, application engineers, data engineers, and external partners to develop governance frameworks that support strategic decision-making and regulatory compliance.
This role will be instrumental in creating governance capabilities from the ground up, including data stewardship programs, business glossaries, data catalogs, metadata management processes, data quality monitoring, master data management practices, and governance policies.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills, business process knowledge, healthcare data experience, and a passion for building organizational capabilities that improve the value, quality, and trustworthiness of enterprise data assets.
Responsibilities
- Establish and support the organization's enterprise data governance framework, operating model, and governance processes.
- Develop, document, and maintain data governance policies, standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify critical data elements and prioritize governance initiatives.
- Define and maintain enterprise business glossaries, data dictionaries, and metadata repositories.
- Collaborate with business subject matter experts to establish common definitions, business rules, and data standards.
- Develop and coordinate a data stewardship program across functional business areas.
- Facilitate governance working sessions with business leaders and data owners to resolve data-related issues and improve consistency.
- Establish processes for documenting data lineage, data ownership, data classification, and data lifecycle management.
- Monitor and assess data quality across key operational and analytical data assets.
- Define data quality rules, metrics, scorecards, and remediation processes.
- Analyze data quality trends and coordinate corrective actions with business and technical teams.
- Support data cataloging and metadata management initiatives to improve data discoverability and understanding.
- Assist with the identification, classification, and protection of sensitive data, including PHI and PII.
- Collaborate with Information Security, Compliance, and Legal teams to support regulatory and contractual data requirements.
- Support governance reviews related to data integrations, application development, reporting solutions, analytics initiatives, and AI projects.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve data consistency, standardization, and operational efficiency through governance practices.
- Support master data management initiatives involving members, clients, pharmacies, providers, medications, and other key business entities.
- Develop governance metrics, maturity assessments, and executive reporting to demonstrate program progress and business value.
- Create and maintain governance documentation, process flows, training materials, and communication plans.
- Support organizational change management efforts related to data governance adoption.
- Participate in technology evaluations and provide governance recommendations related to data platforms, analytics solutions, and emerging technologies.
- Promote a culture of data ownership, accountability, and data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
- Stay current on data governance trends, healthcare regulations, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Management, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in data governance, data management, business analysis, data quality, analytics, healthcare operations, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, data lifecycle management, and data quality concepts.
- Experience developing business requirements, process documentation, and data definitions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate data issues and identify root causes.
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL for data analysis and validation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience facilitating discussions across multiple departments to achieve consensus on data standards and business rules.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience creating professional documentation, presentations, and process materials.
- Ability to work independently while driving collaboration across the organization.
- Experience helping establish or mature a data governance program.
- Experience within healthcare, pharmacy benefit management, health insurance, pharmaceutical services, or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI, PII, CMS requirements, and healthcare data privacy regulations.
- Experience working with Microsoft Purview as the data catalog, metadata management, or governance platform.
- Experience developing data dictionaries, business glossaries, and data lineage documentation.
- Experience with data quality management tools and methodologies.
- Familiarity with Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and implementations.
- Experience supporting reporting, analytics, data warehousing, or business intelligence initiatives.
- Experience working within Microsoft Azure environments.
- Experience with Power BI and enterprise reporting solutions.
- Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics governance initiatives.
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards including NCPDP, FHIR, HL7, and EDI transactions.
- Experience operating within Agile or iterative project delivery environments.
- Experience utilizing AI-assisted productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
