Role: Software Test Analyst 5

Location: Lansing, MI – Hybrid with 2 Days Onsite (Mon-Tue)

Duration: 1 Year

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• 7+ years of experience in IT quality assurance, software testing, systems analyst.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and executing test cases.
• 5+ years of experience identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects.
• 5+ years of experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or similar testing/defect management platforms.

PREFERRED/DESIRED SKILLS:

• Previous experience working in a state or public sector government environment is preferred.
• Experience with SQL and database testing, including testing APIs and system integrations.
• Experience with automated testing tools and working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience with web-based and enterprise applications, with working knowledge of SDLC and software testing methodologies.
• Experience supporting large-scale IT projects or system implementations.

DAY-TO-DAY (WHAT THE ROLE ACTUALLY DOES):

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios; perform functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing; identify requirement gaps and quality risks; document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution; collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to troubleshoot and validate fixes.

Key Competencies:

• Building automated test banks and repeatable regression suites; creating test metrics and quality reporting against requirements; performing data validation/reconciliation (including SQL queries); testing system integrations, interfaces, APIs, and application workflows; supporting deployment/production validation; providing regular status updates on testing progress, defects, risks, and outstanding issues.

Project Profile:

• Ongoing technology initiatives and application enhancement work for DTMB, working closely with IT, development, business analysts, project teams, and business stakeholders across releases. Testing spans functional, regression, integration, system, and UAT phases, with active defect tracking in Jira, Azure DevOps, or ServiceNow.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree (Any Major; must be completed)
