We are a technology-driven company offering businesses an innovative online solution for managing indirect tax obligations across 60 countries. Our platform seamlessly integrates VAT registrations, tax calculations, filings, notifications, centralized document storage, and payments, while our clients also benefit from the expertise of our experienced, multilingual team of tax professionals.

Thanks to the increasing demand for high-quality compliance services, Tax Desk has rapidly grown to a team of over 55 professionals specializing in tax compliance and technology.

Role Overview

As a Solution Architect at Tax Desk, you will be the primary bridge between ambitious business goals and robust technical execution.

You will own the architectural integrity of our platforms, ensuring that every new feature is scalable, secure, and seamlessly integrated into our ecosystem, utilizing a modern .NET, React, and Azure stack.

You aren't just drawing boxes and arrows — you are defining the "how" behind our "what."

Main Responsibilities

End-to-End Design

Lead the design of comprehensive technical solutions that align with Tax Desk’s long-term product roadmap.

Integration & Tech Stack

Define integration patterns across APIs, Webhooks, and Event-driven architectures, and select the appropriate technology stacks in close collaboration with the development team. .NET, React, and Azure are mainly used, but we are open to finding the best solution for our challenges.

Workflow Visualization

Translate complex business logic into clear technical flows and state diagrams.

Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs)

Define, document, and lead the testing for performance, scalability, reliability, and security requirements.

Architectural Documentation

Maintain high-quality documentation, including system architecture diagrams, data models, and sequence diagrams (UML/Mermaid).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as the "translator" between Product Owners, Business Stakeholders, and Developers, ensuring technical feasibility meets business value.

Other Important Responsibilities

Security & Data Privacy

In the tax industry, data is king. You will design for SOC2/GDPR compliance and ensure data encryption and PII handling are baked into the architecture.

Cloud Governance

Optimize cloud resource usage, mainly Azure, to ensure the architecture is cost-effective as we scale.

Legacy Modernization

Identify opportunities to refactor or replace technical debt without disrupting ongoing business operations.

Technical Mentorship

Provide guidance to senior developers to ensure the architectural vision is understood and implemented correctly.

Key Qualifications

Experience

7+ years in software development, with at least 3 years in an Architect or Lead Developer role. FinTech or RegTech experience is a massive plus.

System Design

Proven track record of building distributed systems or microservices-based architectures.

Communication

Ability to explain O(n) complexity to a developer and "system uptime ROI" to a CEO in the same afternoon.

Tools

  • Proficiency with modelling tools (e.g. Mermaid) and modern CI/CD pipelines.
