C1 German and B2 English are both required.

THE ROLE

Most DevOps roles now mean managing someone else's cloud. This one is the opposite. It is an on-premise, multi-tenant data and AI platform that serves every Federal Ministry in Germany and their data labs, and you would be one of the people keeping it running.

That means owning incidents end to end rather than passing them on. Investigating, diagnosing, resolving, and then running a blameless post-mortem so it does not happen twice. It means watching SLO alerts and error budgets across the platform, working tickets to SLA, and knowing when to escalate rather than sitting on something.

And it means building the infrastructure underneath — virtualisation, containerisation, monitoring, automation — in a real data centre rather than a console.

YOU WILL

• Own reported customer issues end to end and drive them through to resolution
• Investigate and diagnose service problems, and manage incident response from detection to post-incident review
• Monitor and maintain SLO alerts and error budgets across the platform
• Process support tickets to SLA and escalate through defined routes when needed
• Build and maintain on-premise data centre infrastructure — virtualisation, containerisation, monitoring
• Find the automation opportunities and implement them
• Integrate and develop software systems for a multi-tenant data and AI platform

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• A degree in Computer Science, a completed Fachinformatiker qualification, or an equivalent — the client weighs the apprenticeship route equally
• At least 3 years hands-on in IT operations or production support
• Solid system administration experience
• Solid hands-on Linux
• Working knowledge of ITIL fundamentals
• German at C1 or above — written and spoken. A hard requirement, not a preference
• English at B2 or above
• Citizenship of an approved country under the reguläre Staatenliste. This is a country of birth test and it applies regardless of naturalisation

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Three or more years of 2nd or 3rd level support, or Kubernetes operations
• At least three of: Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, PostgreSQL, Grafana, Prometheus, GitLab, Terraform
• AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
• Jira and Confluence
• Scripting in Python, Bash, Go, Ruby or Perl
• Willingness to take part in an on-call rotation

WHY THIS ONE

Up to 80% home office. On a security-cleared federal platform that is genuinely unusual, and it is not a temporary arrangement.

It is on-premise and it matters. Every Federal Ministry uses this platform. When it is down, that is not a dashboard nobody looks at.

And the apprenticeship route counts. The client weighs a completed Fachinformatiker equally with a degree, and says so. Most adverts for this kind of work do not.

Contract: 15-Month Secure ANÜ Engagement running to 31 December 2027

Hours: 35 per week

Salary: Up to €100,000 p.a. depending on experience
