QA Engineer

We're hiring on behalf of a Haystack partner!

The Role

• Provide technical and disciplinary leadership for the QA Automation team, defining the test automation strategy across all levels including unit, integration, system, stress, and performance tests.

• Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to ensure team delivery and quality commitments, embedding "shift-left," automation-first, and risk-based testing approaches into the development process.

• Remain hands-on in designing scalable frameworks, harnesses, and CI/CD pipelines that adapt to product complexity.

• Drive AI-native test automation, utilizing AI code generation and AI agents for test creation, maintenance, and triage, establishing reusable skills and workflows for the team.

• Mentor QA Engineers, continuously raising the technical bar and contributing expertise to the broader QA community.

What You'll Need

• Proven leadership experience in test automation with strong technical credibility and the ability to develop senior team members both technically and personally.

• An excellent university degree (preferably Master's) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Informatics, or a comparable technical field with strong academic performance.

• Solid experience with multi-layered test frameworks, CI/CD, load and performance testing, and strong programming skills in at least one language such as C#, Java, Python, or TypeScript.

• Demonstrated effective use of AI in QA environments, preferably with AI code generation tools or similar agentic tools, and experience in designing AI pipelines, test harnesses, and context engineering.

• Fluency in both German and English, strong problem-solving skills, high innovation capacity, proactivity, and an entrepreneurial mindset aligned with a healthcare purpose and patient safety.
