Engineering Manager – C#/.NET
£65,000 | Fully Remote | Permanent | UK
Build better engineering. Not just more software.
Our client is a growing automotive eCommerce technology business building digital products and platforms used across complex international eCommerce operations.
They're now looking for an Engineering Manager to help take an established engineering function through its next stage of maturity.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to disappear into meetings and spreadsheets.
We need a technically credible, hands-on engineering leader who understands modern C#/.NET development, can challenge architectural decisions, develop engineers and raise the standards around how software is designed, built and delivered.
The opportunity
You'll work closely with senior technology leadership to help shape the engineering function — improving technical standards, development practices, architecture, quality and scalability.
You'll have the opportunity to influence how engineering works, not simply inherit processes and maintain them.
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading, coaching and developing a team of Software Engineers
- Remaining technically close to a modern C#/.NET environment
- Raising engineering standards across architecture, code quality and delivery
- Helping modernise and simplify existing applications and services
- Improving development processes, tooling and ways of working
- Supporting architectural and technical design decisions
- Driving better approaches to APIs, integrations, cloud and scalable software
- Working closely with Product and senior Technology leadership
- Creating an environment where engineers have ownership and are continually developing
- Helping establish the foundations required to scale the technology function
What we're looking for
You'll ideally have progressed from a strong Software Engineering background into technical leadership or Engineering Management.
You'll need solid experience with:
C# / .NET • AWS or Azure • APIs & Integrations • Modern Software Architecture • Engineering Leadership
We're particularly interested in people who can demonstrate that they've improved an engineering environment — introduced standards, modernised technology, improved quality, developed teams or changed how software gets delivered.
Experience within eCommerce, SaaS, digital products or high-transaction platforms would be particularly relevant.
Automotive experience is not required.
Why join?
Because this isn't an Engineering Manager role where everything has already been figured out.
You'll join a business investing in its technology capability, with the backing and autonomy to make meaningful improvements to engineering.
It's an opportunity to combine people leadership with genuine technical influence, helping shape what a modern engineering function should look like as the business continues to grow.
