A reputable financial technology company is seeking a high-caliber Infrastructure Engineer to lay the foundation for the uptime, scalability and security of its payment gateway. As the first infrastructure hire, you'll own this today and help build the team around it as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Own uptime and performance of the payment gateway infrastructure
- Design for failover and disaster recovery
- Build and maintain infrastructure documentation and runbooks
- Tune infrastructure to handle high-concurrency transaction volume without degradation
- Load-test and capacity-plan ahead of anticipated volume growth
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks proactively
- Maintain infrastructure alignment with PCI-DSS Level 1 requirements
- Align infrastructure controls with national cybersecurity standards
- Support compliance audits with accurate infrastructure evidence
- Monitor system health and respond to incidents against defined SLAs
- Run post-incident reviews and implement fixes to prevent recurrence
- Help establish on-call processes as the infrastructure team grows
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
- 5–8 years in infrastructure, DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering roles
- At least two years supporting PCI-DSS Level 1 environments is required
- Direct experience in payments or fintech infrastructure
- Comfort being the first or founding member of an infrastructure function
- Strong command of cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure or GCP
- Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
- Solid understanding of load balancing, monitoring and incident response processes
- Ability to translate compliance requirements into infrastructure controls
- Kubernetes and Terraform for infrastructure management
- Monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
- Jira and Confluence for delivery and documentation
- Very good English and Arabic
- Stay calm and organized when handling incidents under pressure
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation, especially for compliance purposes
- PCI-DSS QSA exposure
- Direct national cybersecurity compliance project experience
- AWS Solutions Architect or CKA certification
- Prior experience building an infrastructure function from the ground up
