Indexed description

The Landmark Group began its journey in 1973 with one store in Bahrain and has grown into one of the largest retail and hospitality conglomerates in the Middle East, Africa, and India. Currently, the Group operates over 2,200 outlets, encompassing over 30 million square feet across 21 countries.

Job Purpose:

The Application Engineer builds and extends the Dynamics 365 estate for various businesses. The role delivers X++ and C# development, F&O and Commerce extensions, integrations, and Power Platform work against the common solution superset and each business slice. Engineers work from Kuala Lumpur four hours ahead of the Gulf, completing builds and fixes before Gulf business hours, and follow the standards set by the Solution Architect so all four instances stay clean, current, and consistent.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Development and Extensions
  • Integrations and Data
  • Power Platform Delivery
  • Quality and Standards
  • L3 Support and Root Cause Fixes

Job Description:

Development and Extensions

  • Build X++ and C# extensions for D365 F&O and Commerce following the extension pattern; the CoE does not overlayer.
  • Deliver against build ready user stories from the Product Analyst, to the designs approved by the Solution Architect.
  • Write clean, performant code that survives Microsoft One Version updates without rework.

Integrations and Data

  • Build and maintain integrations between D365 and enterprise systems using OData, custom services, business events, and Azure Integration Services.
  • Execute data migration and data management framework (DMF) work during rollouts and structural changes.

Power Platform Delivery

  • Extend D365 with Power Apps and Power Automate where low code beats custom development.
  • Build against Dataverse and dual write patterns where the approved design calls for them.

Quality and Standards

  • Follow CoE coding standards, code review discipline, and the branching strategy in Azure DevOps.
  • Unit test your own work and support QA Automation in keeping regression suites current.
  • Fix defects at root cause. The CoE does not ship symptom patches.

L3 Support

  • Provide deep L3 support for production issues across the four instances on a team rotation.

Diagnose performance issues using Trace Parser, SQL insights, and LCS monitoring, escalating to the Solution Architect when needed.

Professional Experience

  • 4+ years of D365 F&O and/or Commerce development experience.
  • Strong X++ development track record, with C# for extensions and integration components.
  • Experience on at least one full D365 implementation from build through go live.
  • Production support experience on live, high volume environments.
  • Retail or commerce industry experience preferred.

Technical Skills

  • X++ and Extensions: deep X++ skill within the extension framework, with clean habits and no overlayering.
  • C# and .NET: for Commerce SDK work, custom services, and integration components.
  • Commerce: CSU, POS extensions, and Commerce SDK experience is a strong plus.
  • Integration: OData, custom services, business events, Logic Apps, and Service Bus.
  • Data: DMF, data entities, and migration execution.
  • DevOps: Azure DevOps pipelines, branching, code review flow, and build automation.
  • Power Platform: Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse fundamentals.
  • Performance: Trace Parser and query tuning awareness for high volume retail transactions.
  • SysOperation Framework: batch and service class development using the SysOperation pattern, not legacy RunBase.
  • Chain of Command: CoC method wrapping and event handlers as the standard extension mechanisms.
  • Electronic Reporting: ER configurations for localized documents and formats across the UAE, Malaysia, Indonesia, and KSA.
  • Retail Specifics: pricing engine, promotions, assortments, and channel database concepts in Commerce.
  • Security Objects: building roles, duties, and privileges correctly as part of delivered work, not as an afterthought.
  • Debugging: production issue diagnosis using LCS logs, Application Insights telemetry, and async trace capture.
  • AI Assisted Development: daily use of GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio for X++ and C# development, including code completion, unit test generation, and code explanation on unfamiliar objects.
  • AI in Code Review: using Copilot to summarize pull requests and flag issues in Azure DevOps before human review, raising review speed without lowering the bar.
