Managing Director, Enterprise Data & Integration
Location: Wilmington, DE | Hybrid, 3 days onsite
We are partnering with a large, complex organization to identify a Managing Director of Enterprise Data & Integration to join its senior technology leadership team. Reporting directly to the CIO, this newly created position will lead the next evolution of the organization's enterprise data strategy, overseeing data architecture, data warehousing, data lake capabilities, enterprise integrations, governance, and emerging customer data initiatives. This is a highly visible transformation and leadership role. While strong technical credibility across modern enterprise data environments is essential, the successful candidate will be equally accomplished in building organizations, developing leaders, establishing scalable operating models, and driving alignment across technology and business teams. The organization has already established significant data, analytics, and cloud capabilities. This leader will build upon that foundation, strengthen existing teams and processes, and develop the strategy required to support future advanced analytics, AI, customer data, and digital initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the enterprise data and integration strategy in partnership with the CIO and senior business leadership.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams spanning data warehousing, data lake capabilities, enterprise integration, data architecture, and emerging customer data initiatives.
- Assess and strengthen the existing data organization, including team structure, talent, processes, ownership, governance, and delivery models.
- Lead the continued modernization and optimization of cloud-based enterprise data warehouse and data lake environments.
- Establish scalable data architecture, governance, quality, stewardship, and Master Data Management practices.
- Advance enterprise integration capabilities across APIs, real-time integrations, event-driven architecture, and publish/subscribe models.
- Develop and mature enterprise standards for integration, data modeling, testing, quality, and delivery.
- Help shape and lead future Customer Data Platform and Customer 360 initiatives.
- Establish clear processes for intake, prioritization, roadmap development, and delivery of enterprise data and integration initiatives.
- Partner with business leaders to improve access to trusted, actionable data for analytics, reporting, customer experience, and strategic decision-making.
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing organization while developing strong leaders across the function.
- Manage strategic technology vendors, consulting partners, budgets, and technology investments.
- Position the organization's data foundation to support future advanced analytics, AI, and emerging technology capabilities.
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner to the CIO and broader executive leadership team.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive technology experience with significant leadership responsibility across enterprise data environments.
- 5+ years of senior leadership experience within a mid-sized or large, complex organization.
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise data strategy, architecture, data warehousing, and cloud data modernization initiatives.
- Proven success building, transforming, reorganizing, or significantly scaling data and technology organizations.
- Experience leading managers and multidisciplinary teams across multiple technical functions.
- Strong understanding of modern cloud data platforms, enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, and data engineering environments.
- Experience establishing or advancing enterprise data governance, data quality, stewardship, and Master Data Management capabilities.
- Strong understanding of enterprise application integration, APIs, real-time integration, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience leading complex, enterprise-wide transformation initiatives involving both technology and organizational change.
- Strong business partnership skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business priorities, risks, and opportunities.
- Experience managing technology budgets, vendors, consulting partners, and strategic investments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with modern cloud data ecosystems such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Experience with large-scale cloud data warehouse or lakehouse environments.
- Customer Data Platform, Customer 360, or enterprise customer data experience.
- Experience modernizing enterprise integration platforms and API ecosystems.
- Experience supporting data foundations for AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics initiatives.
- Experience operating within complex, matrixed, multi-business-unit organizations.
