We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Applications & Integrations Engineer to lead the design, development, and support of enterprise systems and integrations across our food and beverage ecosystem. This role serves as a technical leader and escalation point, driving complex system initiatives while ensuring alignment with business goals, IT strategy, and architectural standards.

You will play a critical role in supporting and enhancing integrations across Dynamics 365 (Commerce), custom .NET applications, AWS cloud services, and data platforms such as Databricks, while also contributing to system reliability, performance, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex systems and integrations
  • Serve as a Tier-3 escalation point for production issues, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
  • Define and document technical requirements, architectures, and specifications
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to team members and vendor resources
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, quality standards, and best practices
Application & Integration Engineering
  • Design and develop API integrations using .NET and AWS services
  • Own and support the API layer, including bug fixes, enhancements, and performance improvements
  • Support integrations between systems including:
    • Dynamics 365 (Commerce module)
    • Warehouse Inventory Management Systems (WIMS – homegrown)
    • POS systems (including mobile/train-based POS)
    • Finance and expense systems (e.g., Concur)
  • Manage integration workflows involving warehouse scanners and supply chain systems
System Support & Operations
  • Oversee system monitoring, platform health, and continuous improvements
  • Handle change requests, defect resolution, and application enhancements
  • Support integration testing, validation testing, and deployment processes
  • Perform light administrative tasks in Dynamics 365 (e.g., user onboarding, store setup)
Data & Reporting
  • Integrate and manage data pipelines into data lakes (Databricks)
  • Develop and support Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
  • Ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and performance
Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure integrations and APIs follow PCI-DSS compliance standards
  • Maintain security and data governance best practices
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes through technology

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of experience in systems development, integration, or application engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in retail, commerce, supply chain, or ERP ecosystems

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with:
    • .NET development and API design
    • Cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
    • Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Commerce module preferred)
  • Experience with system integration and middleware architectures
  • Knowledge of data platforms (Databricks, data lakes) and reporting tools like Power BI
  • Understanding of ERP commerce and inventory systems
  • Experience supporting warehouse and supply chain technologies
  • Familiarity with PCI-DSS and secure API practices

Benefits

The salary/hourly range is $113,200.00 – $146,664.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentives and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
