Group Commercial Data Engineer

About the Role

At ECCBC, we are accelerating our data-driven transformation across multiple markets in Africa. We are looking for a Group Commercial Data Engineer to build and scale the data infrastructure that powers commercial analytics, business intelligence, and advanced AI solutions across the Group. The role focuses on designing robust data pipelines, enabling high-quality data products, and supporting the deployment of predictive and machine learning models.

You will work closely with Data Scientists, Commercial Excellence teams, and IT stakeholders to transform data into actionable business insights and drive innovation across our operations.

What You'll Do

Data Engineering & Analytics

• Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and data ingestion frameworks.
• Develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT processes and enterprise data models.
• Ensure data reliability, integrity, quality, and governance across multiple business units.
• Drive data standardization across commercial data sources and platforms.

AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement

• Partner with Data Scientists to industrialize and deploy machine learning models.
• Support the integration of predictive analytics solutions into production environments.
• Contribute to the development of innovative data products that support commercial growth and decision-making.

Technology & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with IT teams on platform enhancements, software deployments, and data architecture improvements.
• Engage with Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, and Reporting teams to understand and address analytical needs.
• Promote a strong data and analytics culture across the organization.

What We're Looking For :

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Apache Spark.
• Hands-on experience with modern data engineering platforms including: Microsoft Fabric & Databricks
• Azure Data Services
• Apache Airflow, Apache Beam, or similar orchestration tools.
• Strong understanding of:
• Data Warehousing
• ETL/ELT architectures
• Data Modeling
• Database Systems
• Business Intelligence solutions.

Experience

• 3+ years of experience building large-scale data pipelines and data platforms.
• 2+ years working with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, or Databricks environments.
• Experience in cloud-based data architectures and analytics ecosystems.
• Exposure to machine learning deployment and MLOps environments is a strong advantage.
• Experience working in international and multicultural environments.
