About Rhizophyll

Rhizophyll Corporation is an AgTech company developing innovative crop nutrition, nutrient-use-efficiency, and plant-delivery technologies designed to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability. The company is building a differentiated portfolio of fertilizer and agricultural-input products for the U.S. market.

Position Summary

Rhizophyll is seeking an entrepreneurial Vice President of Sales & Marketing to lead U.S. commercialization and revenue growth. Reporting to the CEO, this role will own sales strategy, channel development, customer acquisition, product launches, pricing recommendations, forecasting, and commercial partnerships. The ideal candidate combines strong relationships across U.S. agricultural distribution, retail, growers, and consultants with the ability to build markets for innovative agricultural technologies. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring both strategic thinking and direct customer and channel engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy: Develop and execute U.S. sales plans aligned with company revenue and treated-acre targets.
  • Channel Development: Build and manage distributor, retailer, dealer, consultant, and strategic-partner networks.
  • Market Development: Identify priority crops, customers, geographies, and market opportunities, initially emphasizing specialty crops in California and Washington.
  • Product Launches: Develop go-to-market plans, positioning, pricing recommendations, sales tools, and launch programs for Rhizophyll products.
  • Customer Adoption: Build grower demand, reference accounts, demonstrations, repeat purchases, and long-term customer relationships.
  • Commercial Negotiations: Lead or support negotiations involving pricing, discounts, exclusivity, private-label, licensing, distribution, and strategic partnerships.
  • Pipeline Development: Provide commercial input into product-development priorities based on market need, differentiation, pricing potential, channel fit, adoption barriers, and time to revenue.
  • Forecasting: Own sales forecasts, opportunity tracking, distributor inventory, sell-through, revenue, treated acres, and commercial KPIs.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with R&D, Regulatory, Technical Service, Supply Chain, and Marketing to successfully commercialize products.
  • Industry Representation: Represent Rhizophyll at grower meetings, distributor meetings, trade shows, conferences, field days, and other industry events.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop the commercial team, including direct reports and external sales/channel partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agribusiness, Agronomy, Plant Science, Agricultural Economics, Business, or related field; MBA/CCA is a plus.
  • 5+ years of progressive commercial experience in U.S. agriculture.
  • Experience in fertilizers, crop nutrition, biologicals, biostimulants, crop protection, specialty crops, or related agricultural inputs preferred.
  • Established relationships with agricultural distributors, retailers, growers, consultants, or other industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience launching agricultural products and converting technical/field performance into customer adoption and revenue.
  • Strong negotiation, pricing, forecasting, business-development, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve sales objectives in an entrepreneurial or resource-constrained environment.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. agricultural distribution and specialty-crop markets.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% domestically.

Physical & Field Requirements

The position requires regular visits to farms, field trials, agricultural facilities, customer locations, warehouses, and industry events. The candidate must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to work outdoors in sunshine, heat, cold, wind, dust, and variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk and stand in agricultural fields and uneven terrain for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and safely navigate farms, fields, warehouses, and production areas.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to approximately 40–50 pounds, including product samples, containers, equipment, and marketing materials.
  • Ability to safely handle product samples, fertilizer containers, application equipment, and agricultural materials in accordance with company safety procedures.
  • Ability to use sight, touch, and smell, where appropriate and safe, to observe products, crops, field conditions, application quality, and other relevant characteristics.
  • Ability to visually inspect crops, plants, field plots, products, packaging, and equipment.
  • Ability to participate in field demonstrations, crop inspections, grower visits, field trials, and field days.
  • Ability to travel by automobile and air and visit agricultural locations throughout the United States.
  • Ability to work occasionally during early mornings, evenings, weekends, or extended days when required for customer meetings, field activities, conferences, or product demonstrations.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all Rhizophyll safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow applicable product labels, SDS requirements, PPE requirements, and field-site safety procedures.
  • Maintain a safety-conscious approach around agricultural equipment, vehicles, machinery, fertilizers, irrigation systems, and active farming operations.
  • Complete required company safety training and comply with applicable workplace safety requirements.

Desired Attributes

  • Entrepreneurial: Self-starter who thrives in a startup environment.
  • Commercially Driven: Focused on revenue, customer adoption, and measurable results.
  • Relationship Builder: Able to establish trusted relationships with growers, distributors, retailers, and industry partners.
  • Hands-On: Comfortable making sales calls, visiting farms, conducting demonstrations, and negotiating directly with customers.
  • Strategic: Able to balance immediate sales execution with long-term market development.
  • Collaborative: Effective partner to R&D, Regulatory, Technical Service, Supply Chain, and Marketing.
