Principal Research Scientist, Human Genetics
Indexed description
About the Role
Join a global biopharmaceutical organization advancing genetics-driven drug discovery across therapeutic areas including inflammation and respiratory disease, cardio-renal-metabolic conditions, and cancer immunology.
As Principal Scientist, you'll bring hands-on expertise in core genetic analysis methods — GWAS, meta-analysis, QTL mapping — applied to biobank-scale datasets, translating findings into actionable insight on disease biology, mechanism of action, safety, and translational biomarkers. You'll also help identify novel, genetics-backed therapeutic concepts and support programs toward proof-of-concept in the clinic. This is a senior individual-contributor role with real project leadership and mentorship scope.
What You'll Do
- Partner with cross-functional discovery teams to shape therapeutic strategy, bringing forward genetics-based evidence and novel ideas
- Contribute to analyses and help build datasets/analytic tools alongside the broader human genetics function
- Serve as a go-to subject matter expert on strategic initiatives
- Collaborate and communicate across internal teams and with external academic/industry partners
- Apply deep knowledge of clinicogenomic biobank data and translational methods
- Plan, prioritize, and structure genetics analysis and communication work aligned to project strategy
What You'll Bring
- PhD in Statistical Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related genetics-focused field
- 5+ years post-PhD industry experience in disease translation within pharma/biotech
- Strong translational knowledge in at least one relevant disease area
- Demonstrated genetics expertise and a track record of driving value through human genomics in applied settings
- Strong programming/computational skills
- Excellent collaboration and presentation skills, with experience driving impact in matrixed organizations
- Proven project management experience leading cross-functional teams
