DevOps Engineer | Newcastle - 3 Days Onsite | £45,000 - £60,000 | 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

We're seeking a DevOps Engineer to join a major digital transformation programme, helping to build, automate and support modern cloud-based development environments. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working with modern cloud technologies and making a tangible impact on software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines
• Configure and support tools including GitLab, Jenkins and SonarQube
• Automate build, test and deployment processes
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK
• Support cloud-based environments across modern platforms
• Create and maintain automated integrations between systems and APIs
• Build and manage containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift
• Work closely with development teams to improve delivery speed, quality and reliability
• Champion DevOps best practice and continuous improvement

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience within a DevOps, Platform Engineering or Cloud Engineering role
• Strong understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
• Experience with GitLab, Jenkins or similar automation tools
• Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK
• Experience with Docker and containerised applications
• Exposure to Kubernetes or OpenShift
• Experience working with AWS, Azure or other cloud platforms
• Scripting experience using Python, Bash, PowerShell, TypeScript or Node.js
• Experience working within Agile software delivery environments
• Must hold/be eligible for SC clerance

Desirable Experience

• Configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef
• Experience with security, performance or resilience testing tools
• Knowledge of serverless architectures
• Experience integrating applications and services through APIs
