Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of Data Analysts in the preparation of standard and specialized medical utilization reports and studies, overseeing the entire workflow from data extraction to the preparation and presentation of client/stakeholder-facing presentations.
- Lead the analysis of member utilization and disease data and its translation into actionable insights/recommendations and tangible initiatives, directly contributing to improved clinical outcomes, sustainable utilization costs, and strong client retention.
- Act as the Utilization Management Department’s primary liaison to Sales teams, maintaining a strong and productive working relationship for the fulfillment of client and internal stakeholder requirements.
- Present utilization findings, disease trend analysis, and actionable insights to clients and internal stakeholders through virtual meetings and on-site executive briefings.
- Lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams to execute targeted studies and projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of dashboards, metrics, and automated reporting tools to enhance data accessibility, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards in all reporting, analysis, and data handling activities.
- Coach team members on best practices in data analysis, visualization, and storytelling to improve overall departmental capability.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities in clinical and operational data, providing strategic recommendations to optimize care management programs.
- Collaborate with IT, Clinical, and Operations teams to ensure data integrity, quality, and seamless integration across multiple systems.
- Support the creation of proposals, business cases, and client deliverables by providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, healthcare regulations, and emerging analytics tools to continuously enhance departmental effectiveness.
- 5+ years in a medical field or in the healthcare industry; 2+ years in a managerial or supervisory role is preferred.
- Educational and/or professional background in health economics or statistics is an advantage.
- Deep understanding of disease registries/medical coding.
- Proficiency in data visualization and data storytelling.
- Able to navigate difficult client questions and build rapport with non-technical audiences.
