In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help define and develop the next generation of avionics – whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management.

Because this role involves a combination of independent and collaborative work, this position can be conducted 100% remotely.

The Controls and Avionics Solutions business is part of the Electronic Systems sector within BAE Systems Inc. We are a leader in high integrity controls for both the military and commercial aviation markets, and are focused on investing and developing for future growth. In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help define and develop the next generation of avionics – whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management. Our core capabilities and future technologies lie in: active controls, aftermarket services, aircraft electrification, autonomy, cabin systems, engine systems, and next-gen controls. This internship will be in support of our aftermarket services where we provide world class support throughout the lifecycle of our products, up to 600+ airlines and MROs globally.

BAE Systems is looking for an Intern with experience using data visualization tools that has an interest in the business lifecycle, customer relationship management (CRM), and operations optimization through data analysis, data modeling, and data management. The qualified candidate will have the opportunity to assist in the design and development of these capabilities and opportunity identification to help support all phases of the business lifecycle.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Identifying, quantifying, capturing and/or modeling new business opportunities
  • Gathering, analyzing, and evaluating information collected on internal operations, customers, competitors and other market factors that can contribute to a business's competitive advantage and its operations
  • Advancing and implementing new tools to support various functions (customer account management, winning business, repair center optimization, etc)
  • Refining how we utilize data (capture, cleaning, organization, and modeling)

In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Currently enrolled (with good academic standing) for a Bachelor or Master degree in Analytics, Business, Mathematics (or other related fields), or a degree with an Analytics or Business minor/concentration. Rising junior pursuing undergraduate degree preferred
  • Experience or knowledge using data visualization software such as PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, and data preparation and cleaning methods/tools such as MS Power Query, Alteryx or Tableau Prep, SQL, MS Office suite of programs (MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience using business intelligence tools
  • Experience with Python is a plus
  • Comfortable with complex data relationships (ERD)
  • Knowledge/Experience with machine learning, time series analysis, and deep learning frameworks is a plus
  • Effective prompt engineering skills to leverage AI when necessary
  • Prior experience in the aerospace industry is a plus

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $40658 - $54841

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
