AI Research Scientist - Trading | Frontier AI Research – Miami – $500K to $1.5M+

I am recruiting for a leading global quantitative trading firm that is making a major investment in AI and

Machine Learning research.

They are looking for exceptional AI Research Scientists / Research Engineers to work on some of the most challenging predictive modelling problems in the industry.

This is not a traditional quantitative finance role. You do not need previous experience in trading or financial markets.

The team is particularly interested in researchers coming from leading AI labs, Big Tech research teams, frontier model companies and top academic environments.

The job:

You will work on open-ended AI research problems where improvements in model quality can have a direct and measurable impact in production.

The work sits at the intersection of:

  • Deep Learning
  • Foundation Models
  • Large-scale predictive modelling
  • Representation Learning
  • Transformers / Sequence Modelling
  • Reinforcement Learning
  • Large-scale ML systems
  • High-performance computing

Depending on your expertise, you could work on:

  • Designing new deep learning architectures for complex predictive problems
  • Training models on extremely large, noisy and high-dimensional datasets
  • Improving model architectures, representations, objectives and training methodologies
  • Extending prediction horizons and improving model generalization
  • Developing Transformer-based and other modern sequence modelling approaches
  • Large-scale model training and distributed experimentation
  • Applying recent advances in foundation models and reinforcement learning to new problem domains
  • Improving training efficiency and experimentation at scale
  • Building research infrastructure and tooling used by other researchers
  • Taking research projects from initial hypothesis through experimentation and into production

This is a highly research-driven environment, but researchers are expected to remain close to implementation.

You should enjoy both developing new ideas and making them work at scale.

Strong candidates will typically have:

  • A Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a related discipline
  • Strong experience designing, training and debugging modern deep learning models
  • Excellent Python skills and experience with PyTorch and/or JAX
  • Strong understanding of modern ML research
  • Experience designing rigorous experiments and evaluating complex models
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals

Particularly relevant experience

Any of the following would be highly relevant:

  • Pre-training or post-training of large models
  • Large-scale distributed training
  • Transformer architecture research
  • Time-series or sequential modelling
  • Reinforcement Learning
  • Model architecture research
  • GPU / accelerator optimisation
  • CUDA / Triton
  • High-performance ML infrastructure
  • Large-scale experimentation
  • Research publications at NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, KDD, AAAI or equivalent

Compensation:

$500K to $1.5M, total compensation, depending on experience and seniority.

Exceptional candidates can be considered above this range.
