A leading public-sector organization is seeking an experienced Statistician to join its Economics & Statistics Division.

The role is designed for a professional with a strong academic and methodological background in statistics, combined with hands-on experience in complex statistical analysis, model development, forecasting and impact evaluation.

The Statistician will serve as a professional and methodological expert, supporting the development of high-quality statistical practices and advanced analytical capabilities across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

Develop, validate and review statistical models, predictive models, forecasts, indicators and simulations

Conduct complex statistical analyses on large-scale datasets to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation

Develop methodologies for impact evaluation and effectiveness measurement

Analyze relationships between resources, policies, programs and measurable outcomes

Perform professional review and validation of models and analyses, identifying methodological issues, bias, measurement limitations, sampling issues and uncertainty

Analyze panel and longitudinal data to identify trends and patterns over time

Develop predictive and classification models, including Binary / Discrete Outcomes

Explore and implement appropriate Machine Learning and AI methodologies for forecasting, pattern recognition and large-scale data analysis

Evaluate algorithmic models in terms of accuracy, bias, stability and robustness

Translate complex organizational and policy questions into statistical models and analytical solutions

Contribute to establishing professional standards and best practices across Statistics, Forecasting, Data Science and Quality Assurance

Provide professional and methodological guidance to analysts and statisticians

Collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders, external analytics providers and professional partners


Requirements:

Advanced academic degree in a quantitative field - required

Strong preference for an M.Sc. or higher in Statistics, Econometrics, Data Science, Quantitative Economics, Mathematics or a related quantitative research field

At least 7 years of proven experience as a Statistician or Data Scientist, including statistical modeling and algorithm development

Proven experience conducting complex statistical analyses and developing statistical models

Experience with predictive modeling and forecasting

Experience working with large and complex datasets

Experience with Python and/or R

Experience with panel/longitudinal data analysis - advantage

Experience in impact evaluation and effectiveness measurement - significant advantage

Experience with Machine Learning and AI methodologies - advantage

Proven research experience - advantage

Experience in the public sector, consulting firms, large organizations or defense industries – advantage

High proficiency in Hebrew and English
