Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services, is currently recruiting for a Software Engineer on behalf of our client, a global leader in high-tech naval defense solutions. This role is essential for driving the development of cutting-edge combat and information management systems that protect lives and uphold fundamental rights worldwide.
Job Purpose
The Software Engineer will be a key member of the CMS (Combat Management System) Infrastructure team in Hengelo. The primary purpose of this role is to design, develop, and test software that establishes the critical network capabilities for naval combat systems, including operator consoles, radar systems, and optical sensors. You will act as a linchpin in ensuring system resilience and seamless integration within high-stakes, mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Development: Manage the entire development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, software design, coding, testing, validation, and product demonstrations.
- Network Infrastructure: Develop and optimize network capabilities to facilitate communication between complex sensor and weapon systems.
- Software Maintenance: Ensure long-term system stability by maintaining software across various Operating System releases and updates.
- Automation & Deployment: Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to streamline complex system deployments.
- Agile Collaboration: Work within a Scaled Scrum framework, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet project milestones and technical requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively stay updated on industry trends and contribute to the team’s growth through knowledge sharing and personal development.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT Service Management, System & Network Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
Technical Expertise:
- Python: Strong proficiency in Python, including Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and functional programming paradigms.
- Tooling: Hands-on experience with build pipelines and support tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, and Jira.
- OS/Linux: Over 3 years of professional experience; a Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification is highly preferred.
- Infrastructure as Code: Proven experience with Ansible; certification or demonstrable knowledge is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of network technologies including routing, switching, OSPF, multicast, and firewalling.
- Experience working in a Scaled Scrum or large-scale Agile environment.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and communication skills, a growth mindset, and a passion for working on complex, high-tech naval systems.
