The Department of Economics and Finance at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a renewable, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction in Quantitative Methods and Economics, beginning January 16, 2027.

Quantitative methods and business statistics are required core courses for every business student, and they are among the most consequential courses the Department teaches. We are looking for a colleague whose primary commitment is to undergraduate teaching and who can teach quantitative material well to students arriving with varied preparation. There may also be opportunities to teach in the College's MBA program and in the Department's STEM-designated MS in Economics with Data Analytics.

• Teach primarily undergraduate courses in quantitative methods and business statistics, and courses in economics as needed. Depending on qualifications, teaching may include master's-level courses in the MBA program and the MS in Economics with Data Analytics.
• Contribute to curriculum development and assessment in the quantitative core, including coordination across multiple sections and instructors.
• Attain and maintain AACSB faculty qualification as a Scholarly Academic (SA) or Practice Academic (PA) in accordance with the College's faculty qualification standards.
• Serve on departmental and college committees and participate in community outreach.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track appointment, renewable annually. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Hiring decisions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Job Requirements

• A terminal degree (PhD or DBA) in economics, statistics, finance, or a closely related quantitative field. Candidates who are ABD will be considered provided the degree is completed by the appointment date.
• Demonstrated capacity for effective instruction in quantitative coursework.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work productively with students from a wide range of backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Terminal degree from an AACSB-accredited institution.
• Prior experience teaching business statistics, econometrics, or quantitative methods at the undergraduate level, with documented evidence of teaching effectiveness.
• Competence with statistical and data analytics software used in instruction (e.g., R, Python, Stata, Excel).
• Demonstrated competence in the instructional use of artificial intelligence tools, including their use in course and assessment design and in preparing students to apply AI appropriately to quantitative analysis.
• Experience with online or hybrid course delivery, multi-section coordination, or assessment of learning.
• Capacity to contribute to graduate instruction in data analytics.
