The ideal candidate is a strong analytical thinker with expertise in electric load modeling, business analytics, and data science. They excel at building statistical models, analyzing large and diverse datasets, and developing clear insights that support TVA’s long‑term load and revenue forecasting. This individual is curious, detail‑oriented, and comfortable researching emerging load trends, modeling large customer impacts, and producing clear visualizations and revenue analyses. They communicate effectively with both technical and leadership audiences and thrive in a collaborative, fast‑moving environment.

Position Purpose

This position is a support position sharing, with more senior specialists, accountability and responsibility in the functional areas of economic, demand and energy, delivery point, and revenue forecasting. The incumbent will continue to develop specialized skills and knowledge required to progress in the Specialist job family, while also completing tasks in one or more of the forecasting functional areas. This position shares responsibility for developing data & risk analysis & models, benchmarks and forecasts and building communication and collaboration channels with our customers and support organizations. Continued learning about TVA’s power system, mission, strategy, customers, etc., with focus on forecasts specific information like demographic data and economic drivers behind end-use customer behavior, and sources of load, weather, revenue and economic data is expected. The incumbent will also develop skills necessary to effectively communicate with our customers including presentation skills and experience with Excel, Powerpoint, and Tableau.

Principal Accountabilities

In Enterprise Forecasting, a Specialist II supports or leads one or more of the following activities:

• Production of forecasts of electricity demand in the Valley. This work includes forecasting future loads and market conditions, maintaining benchmarks of peers, and providing updates on and analysis of end-use customer behavior.
• Forecasts of TVA base revenues, including learning current and future rate structures, improving revenue models, and translating system energy and peak forecasts into wholesale sales forecasts
• NERC, SERC and other regulatory reporting, which comprises understanding regulatory objectives and requirements.
• Development of economic forecasts for the TVA region consisting of analyses of demographic and economic indicator data, trending historical data and developing a narrative of underlying drivers to economic activity.
• Creating coincident and non-coincident peak forecasts of TVA’s delivery points to local power companies for transmission planning purposes.
• Developing methods and models for normalizing energy and peak loads temporal and weather effects.
• Weekly and monthly forecasting processes to support recurring activities at TVA.
• Describing risks to forecasts using quantitative and statistical methods.

Minimum Requirements

Education - Bachelors degree in economics, engineering, finance, mathematics or comparable related field of study is required. An advanced degree in any of these fields is desirable.

Experience - Minimum of 3 years of work experience. Experience in system or transmission planning, economic or load forecasting, data analysis, statistics or other related work experience is desirable.

Certification/License, etc. - N/A

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - The incumbent should understand the basics principles of accounting, economics, engineering, finance, and electric utility planning and operations, as well as model development and risk analysis. Proficiency in oral and written communications is necessary, as well as, Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. Some experience in software such as MatLab, Tableau, R, REMI, or ITRON Metrix tools is preferred.
