Our client, a leading company in the consumer goods and retail solutions industry, is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Category Analyst to join its team.
This position is responsible for analyzing sales performance, developing category recommendations, optimizing planograms, and identifying opportunities to maximize product visibility, category growth, and overall business results. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with excellent communication and presentation skills, as this role requires frequent interaction with clients and business leaders.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze sales data, category performance, market trends, and consumer insights to support business decisions.
• Develop and maintain planograms aligned with category objectives, customer needs, and supplier guidelines.
• Evaluate product performance and provide recommendations for assortment, placement, and space allocation.
• Prepare and deliver professional presentations and business recommendations to customers and leadership teams.
• Communicate category performance, opportunities, risks, and strategic recommendations effectively.
• Support category reviews using market data, out-of-stock reports, and other relevant business insights.
• Monitor results following planogram implementations and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders through exceptional customer service and professionalism.
• Handle confidential business information with discretion and integrity.
• Manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, quality, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Category Management, Category Analysis, Space Planning, Merchandising Analysis, Retail Analytics, or a related field.
• Experience analyzing sales data and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
• Knowledge of category management principles and planogram development.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
• Ability to confidently present insights, recommendations, and business cases to leadership and clients.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting Walmart accounts.
• Knowledge of Retail Link and/or Scintilla.
• Experience with JDA Pro Space, Blue Yonder, or similar space planning software.
• Experience within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Food & Beverage, Retail, or Consumer Products industries.
