About The Engagement

We are recruiting on behalf of a global e-commerce giant(full time on their payroll) - a category creator that has pioneered online marketplaces for over two decades, connecting hundreds of millions of buyers and sellers across 190+ markets worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity to be embedded within their Customer Experience Analytics team and drive data-led decisions at a truly global scale.

About The Role

We are looking for a talented Data Scientist to join customer's team and drive impactful machine learning solutions. You will work on complex, high-impact problems by turning ambiguous business challenges into clear quantitative frameworks and production-ready ML models. This role offers the opportunity to build, evaluate, and optimize models that directly influence product and business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate machine learning models using techniques such as regression, classification, tree-based methods (e.g., Random Forest, XGBoost, LightGBM), and clustering on large-scale datasets
  • Apply both supervised and unsupervised learning approaches to solve real-world problem
  • Perform end-to-end model development: feature engineering, feature selection, model tuning, hyperparameter optimization, and rigorous model evaluation.
  • Translate vague business requirements into well-defined data science problems and deliver actionable ML solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Business) to identify opportunities and measure impact.
  • Monitor model performance and continuously improve existing solutions

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in machine learning algorithms and statistical methods.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying models for regression, classification, and clustering tasks
  • Proficiency in feature engineering, feature selection, model tuning, and evaluation frameworks
  • Strong programming skills in Python (required); expert with SQL and big data tools is expected.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and translate business problems into quantitative, ML solutions.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent experience).

Nice to Have

  • Experience in product analytics and experimentation (A/B testing, causal inference).
  • Prior exposure to search-related problems such as ranking, relevance, recommendation systems, or personalization.
