Open Longevity is a California-based nonprofit organization working to accelerate research on aging and age-related diseases. We are looking for a Computational Biology Scientist to join and help build our new research direction.
We are creating a computational biology program at the intersection of single-cell transcriptomics, multi-omics, and AI. Our goal is to uncover new mechanistic insights from biomedical data and translate them into reproducible research, scientific publications, and actionable conclusions.
What you will do
Investigate single-cell and multi-omics datasets, identify new biological patterns, and turn them into testable hypotheses about the mechanisms of aging and age-related diseases. Apply and develop modern bioinformatics and AI approaches, rigorously validate the results, and advance projects toward scientific publications and practical insights.
Who we are looking for
- Hands-on experience with scRNA/snRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, or other omics data.
- Strong Python and/or R skills and familiarity with modern bioinformatics tools.
- Understanding of statistics, experimental design, batch effects, and data harmonization.
- Interest in AI tools, biological foundation models, and agentic workflows—combined with the ability to critically validate their outputs.
- Ability to independently review scientific literature, formulate hypotheses, and identify appropriate datasets for validation.
- Professional written English.
- Ambition to help build and eventually lead a broader computational biology function.
What we offer
A fully remote, full-time contractor position with monthly compensation of USD 2,000–2,500, depending on experience, plus milestone-based bonuses.
The initial project will focus on single-cell analysis of aging and neurodegenerative changes in the human tissues. Future work will include scientific and applied projects involving public and proprietary biomedical datasets, with a potential path toward becoming Head of Computational Biology.
