About the job

💼 Permanent – Data Analyst/Analytics Engineer

📍 Sydney based (hybrid, 2 days/week in office for first 3 months)

$120,000 + super + bonus

SQL | Databricks | dbt | Power BI | Finance Reporting | Data Modelling

A high-performing fin-tech business has made serious investment in its data infrastructure over recent years. Cloud, Databricks, dbt. The foundation is there. Now they need someone to help unlock the value from it.

This is a reporting & analytics anchored role with real scope to grow. Finance and revenue reporting is the starting point. Broader analytics across ops, marketing, and product is where it goes from there.

Where do you come in

  • You're someone who takes ownership of reporting cycles and actually improves them over time, not just runs them.
  • You're comfortable translating messy business questions into clean, consistent data outputs.
  • You can work across finance, ops, and product stakeholders without losing the thread.
  • You spot a manual process and want to automate it.

Challenge and opportunity

  • Join a team that originated in finance but is evolving into a broader business-facing analytics function
  • Own critical reporting cycles across month-end, quarter-end, half-year, and year-end
  • Contribute to a single customer view project alongside day-to-day responsibilities
  • Improve data definitions, metrics, and reporting consistency across the business
  • Work in an environment with real momentum and a clear commitment to building data capability

What you will be doing

  • Owning and delivering recurring finance and revenue reporting
  • Translating business questions into insights, reporting, and data solutions
  • Improving data definitions, metrics, and reporting consistency
  • Identifying and implementing automation across manual reporting processes
  • Contributing to data modelling and foundational analytics work
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior leaders

What we are looking for

  • Strong SQL capability
  • Experience working with business stakeholders and translating requirements into analytical outputs
  • Confident communicator, comfortable in a stakeholder-facing role
  • Exposure to modern data environments, Databricks a plus
  • DBT and/or Power BI experience highly valued
  • Finance or revenue reporting background beneficial

Nice to have:

Wealth management or financial services experience

Culture and work style

The team values curiosity, pragmatism, and people who take ownership. It's collaborative, growing, and actively shaping how data is used across the business. If you're someone who sees a broken process and wants to fix it rather than work around it, you'll fit right in.

Keen to discuss further, or know someone who would be a strong fit?
