A university-born technology startup is looking for Data Engineers to build data platforms and products using large-scale alternative data.

The company works with unique datasets such as credit card transactions, POS data, location data, job posting data, and commercial real estate data. These datasets are used to support business and policy decision-making across industries including finance, real estate, HR, enterprise DX, and the public sector.

This is an opportunity to work not only on internal data infrastructure, but also on customer-facing analytics products, enterprise data platforms, and generative AI solutions.

■What You Will Work On

As a Data Engineer, you will work with mission-critical data that directly powers the company’s products and client solutions.

Depending on your experience and career interests, you may be involved in:

• Designing, building, testing, and operating scalable data platforms
• Developing and operating data pipelines for in-house SaaS analytics products
• Processing large-scale alternative datasets, including payment, POS, location, and labor market data
• Building data platforms and analytics environments for enterprise clients
• Supporting generative AI and data utilization projects
• Improving data quality, reliability, monitoring, and operational efficiency
• Collaborating with product managers, consultants, analysts, and engineers

Your team and project assignment will be discussed based on your experience, strengths, and future career goals.

• Alternative data analytics for institutional investors
• Consumer spending indices based on payment data
• Daily price indices using POS data
• Labor market indicators based on job posting data

■Technical Environment

Languages: Python, SQL

Data Platforms: Snowflake, Amazon Redshift

Data Engineering: dbt, Airflow

Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Terraform, Docker

Other Technologies: Vue.js, React, OpenAI APIs

■Requirements

・Required

• Experience developing and operating systems as part of a team
• Hands-on experience developing and operating applications or data systems using Python
• Experience building and operating data analytics platforms
• Experience developing and operating cloud infrastructure
• Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Experience working with container technologies such as Docker
• Business-level Japanese communication skills

・Preferred

• Experience communicating directly with clients or business stakeholders
• Experience with ETL or ELT tools such as dbt, Dataform, or AWS Glue
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
• Knowledge of data management frameworks such as DMBOK
• Experience leading, mentoring, or supporting engineering team members
