Overview
Seeking a senior, hands-on Data Integration Engineer to design, develop, and support production data pipelines and integrations. This role will work across the full data lifecycle, from source acquisition and validation through transformation and delivery into a data warehouse.
The position will also help establish reusable integration standards and contribute to modernization of the data platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data integrations using SFTP, REST APIs, databases, and various file formats.
- Develop reusable, configuration-driven ingestion processes.
- Develop advanced T-SQL transformations and warehouse processes.
- Build reliable pipelines with automated error handling.
- Implement data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Troubleshoot production data issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Contribute to data warehouse and dimensional modeling.
- Use Git, code reviews, and repeatable deployment practices.
- Establish technical standards and provide guidance to other developers.
- Support cloud/data-platform modernization and migration efforts.
- Maintain technical documentation, data lineage, and process documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional experience developing and supporting production data pipelines.
- Advanced T-SQL/SQL Server skills, including performance tuning, stored procedures, window functions, MERGE/upsert patterns, indexing, and transaction/error handling.
- Strong Python experience for data engineering, including APIs, file processing, validation, and scheduled jobs.
- Experience integrating data from APIs, databases, SFTP, JSON, XML, fixed-width, and delimited files.
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Experience owning and supporting production data systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, or similar cloud platforms.
- Cloud migration experience involving SQL Server/data integration workloads.
- Data warehouse and dimensional modeling experience.
- SQL Server Agent/job scheduling experience.
- CI/CD and database deployment experience.
- Experience working with regulated or sensitive data.
- Familiarity with data governance, metadata, and lineage.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
Must be able to work onsite in the Milwaukee area two days per week.
