🚀 Data Engineer – Enterprise Data & AI Platform
💰 £750-£800 per day Inside IR35
📍 Manchester, Edinburgh or Leeds
🏢 Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week
📅 Initial contract until December 2026 – likely extension (3-year programme)
We’re supporting a major strategic banking initiative to build a greenfield Enterprise Knowledge Management platform, creating a foundational data layer that connects knowledge across the
organisation and enables advanced AI, search and retrieval capabilities.
We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join the programme during its shaping and architecture phase, with the opportunity to influence target-state architecture, data design, technical spikes and platform development from the outset.
🔧 What you’ll be doing
- Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines across multiple enterprise sources.
- Build enterprise data solutions using GCP, BigQuery, Google Spanner, Neo4j and Vector Databases.
- Develop Knowledge Graphs and data models to connect enterprise entities and knowledge assets.
- Build and optimise search and indexing capabilities.
- Implement metadata, cataloguing, enrichment and data governance processes.
- Develop event-driven data architectures, with Kafka experience highly desirable.
- Ensure data quality, lineage, governance and traceability.
- Develop automation and data solutions using Python and SQL.
- Collaborate with AI Engineers, Data Scientists, Architects and Governance teams.
🎯 What we’re looking for
Essential:
- Strong GCP experience.
- Excellent Python & SQL skills.
- Strong ETL/ELT experience.
- Proven experience building enterprise-scale data pipelines/platforms.
- Experience working with complex, cloud-native data environments.
Desirable:
- BigQuery experience.
- Kafka / event-driven architectures.
- Neo4j / Knowledge Graphs.
- Vector databases.
- AI/LLM and RAG solutions.
- Enterprise search and indexing.
- Data governance and regulatory environments.
🌐 The opportunity
This is a greenfield, high-profile transformation programme with significant strategic backing. The wider programme is expected to run for 2–3+ years, subject to December funding confirmation.
