About the RoleWe are looking for a motivated, analytical, and technically minded Data Engineer (Entry-Level / Junior) to join our technology and data team in Australia.
The successful candidate will support the development and maintenance of data pipelines, data integration processes, databases, and data platforms that enable reliable reporting, analytics, and business decision-making.
This position is suitable for recent graduates, university graduates, and early-career professionals who are looking to build practical experience in data engineering, cloud technologies, databases, and data analytics.
You will work closely with experienced Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Software Engineers, and business teams to ensure that data is collected, processed, transformed, and made available accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with developing, maintaining, and monitoring data pipelines.
- Support the collection and integration of data from internal and external sources.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) activities.
- Clean, transform, and validate data to improve data quality and consistency.
- Assist with designing and maintaining databases and data warehouses.
- Write and optimize basic SQL queries for data processing and analysis.
- Support data ingestion from APIs, applications, files, and business systems.
- Assist with developing data models and data structures.
- Monitor data pipelines and investigate processing or data-quality issues.
- Troubleshoot data integration and pipeline errors.
- Maintain technical documentation for data pipelines, datasets, and processes.
- Assist with data-quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring processes.
- Support the development of automated data workflows.
- Work with cloud-based data platforms and storage services where applicable.
- Assist with data migration, integration, and platform-improvement projects.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts and BI teams to understand reporting and analytics requirements.
- Support the preparation of datasets for dashboards, reporting, and business analysis.
- Assist with improving data-processing performance and reliability.
- Follow data-security, privacy, access-control, and governance requirements.
- Support data-platform upgrades and technology improvements.
- Participate in testing and deployment of data-engineering solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of data sources, pipelines, schemas, and technical changes.
- Learn and apply modern data-engineering tools and technologies.
- Perform other data-engineering duties assigned by management.
- Strong interest in data engineering, databases, cloud technology, and data platforms.
- Good analytical and logical-thinking skills.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Good understanding of data structures and database concepts.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to learn new technologies and technical concepts quickly.
- Good understanding of basic SQL.
- Basic programming knowledge, preferably Python.

- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Fresh graduates and candidates with limited professional experience are welcome to apply.
- Internship, university project, coursework, or personal project involving data engineering, databases, programming, or analytics is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of SQL is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Python or another programming language is an advantage.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server is beneficial.
- Exposure to data warehouses, ETL/ELT, or data pipelines is an advantage.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus.
- Exposure to tools such as Apache Spark, Airflow, dbt, or similar data-engineering technologies is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Git and basic software-development practices is preferred.
- Relevant cloud, data, or technology certifications are welcome but not mandatory.
