Data Engineer
Build products with data, not just pipelines.
Most Data Engineering roles focus on moving data from A to B.
This one is about deciding what to build with it.
We're partnering with one of the Nordics' most exciting technology businesses as they continue investing heavily in their data platform, AI capabilities and engineering function. They're looking for a curious Data Engineer who enjoys solving problems with technology and wants to build complete solutions rather than spend every day maintaining ETL pipelines.
If you enjoy working across data engineering, software engineering and automation, this could be exactly the kind of challenge you're looking for.
The Opportunity:
The business has already built the foundations of a modern cloud-native data platform. Now they're entering the exciting phase.
Rather than focusing on collecting data, the team is building intelligent services, internal products and AI-enabled solutions that help the business make smarter decisions every day.
You'll work in a small, collaborative engineering team where ideas move quickly, ownership is encouraged and engineers are trusted to take solutions from concept through to production.
What you'll be doing:
Your work will span far more than traditional data engineering, including:
- Designing scalable data models using SQL and dbt
- Building Python services and automation tools
- Developing REST APIs that expose trusted data
- Creating integrations where off-the-shelf tools aren't enough
- Improving data quality, testing and platform reliability
- Building cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
- Working closely with stakeholders to translate business problems into technical solutions
- Helping shape the next generation of AI-powered products and internal tooling
The philosophy is simple:
Use technology to solve business problems.
Sometimes that's a data model.
Sometimes it's an API.
Sometimes it's a lightweight application.
Whatever delivers the greatest value.
What they're looking for:
You'll have strong experience in modern Data Engineering, including:
- SQL
- Python
- dbt
- Cloud data platforms
- Modern data architecture and engineering best practices
You'll also ideally have experience building some combination of:
- REST APIs
- Backend services
- Internal tooling
- Automation solutions
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
- Data integrations
Experience with Google Cloud is helpful but not essential. Engineers from Azure or AWS environments are equally encouraged to apply.
More important than the exact tech stack is your mindset. They're looking for someone who enjoys learning, solving problems and building whatever is needed to create value.
Tech Stack:
- Python
- SQL
- dbt
- BigQuery
- Google Cloud Platform
- Docker
- Terraform
- Airbyte
You don't need experience with every technology. Strong engineering principles and a willingness to learn are far more important.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join a business at exactly the right stage.
The platform has been built.
Now the focus is on creating products that power self-service analytics, intelligent automation and AI across the organisation.
You'll work in a highly visible engineering team where your work has a genuine impact, collaborate directly with business stakeholders and have the autonomy to shape solutions rather than simply deliver tickets.
If you're the kind of engineer who enjoys ownership, variety and building things that matter, you'll thrive here.
