KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and mentor agile team of data and AI/ML engineers towards self-organization and empowerment
  • Pioneer close collaboration with data/feature analysts and data scientist in virtual team setup based on principles of agile and open-source
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities
  • Present team achievements in internal and external events

Continuous Improvement, Technical Excellence and Accountability:

  • Ensure proper data model design and feasibility of data products including AI/ML model training/serving, act as a primary contact for technical aspects of data product
  • Oversee the technical design and implementation compliance with company strategy and policies
  • Follow, select and apply the latest technologies and best practices in data integration and AI/ML

Delivery Tracking:

  • Oversee the end-to-end development process from technical perspective
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, in alignment with product owner and users’ expectations, including non-functional requirements (performance, security, stability, observability, continuity)
  • Manage expectations, risks and resolve issues that arise during development

Collaboration with Product Owner:

  • Work closely with the Product Owner to align development efforts with product goals
  • Provide technical input and feasibility assessments for product features and enhancements
  • Ensure clear communication and coordination between the team and the Product Owner

Automated testing, code quality and documentation:

  • Implement and maintain quality standards for data products
  • Ensure regular testing and validation are implemented as vital part of automated CI/CD
  • Monitor and improve the performance and efficiency of data flows

Data Governance and Compliance:

  • Ensure data products comply with relevant data privacy and security regulations and policies
  • Manage data access and usage to protect personal data and other sensitive information


KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field
  • Previous experience with leading data engineering or AI/ML engineering team
  • 5+ years in a software development environment preferably involving cross-team dependencies.
  • Good knowledge of data modelling, integration, transformation and MLOps on following (or similar) platforms: KServe, Spark, MLflow, Trino, Cassandra, Airflow, Kafka, CEPH, Jupyter, Gitlab, OpenMetadata
  • Good level of understanding of typical data consumer use cases including applications, model training, model serving and various visualization tools (PowerBI, Grafana, Evidently).
  • Ready to put your hands on to solve the problem
  • Thorough understanding and appreciation for the agile and open-source software values and principles
  • You’re comfortable around people, your domain expertise coexists with your strong ability to negotiate, influence and provide feedback
  • You prefer trusting people and empowerment over micro-management
  • You seek continual improvement - Constantly learning to grow your expertise, yourself, and your team.
  • Attitude of transparency – Desire and aptitude to bring disclosure and to grow trust between the business and IT
  • Fluent English
