What you will do:
As a Data Engineer, you will be working as part of the IT team and partnering closely with colleagues throughout the organization to drive the development of data products. You will design data stacks, build AI-enabled workflows, and develop the internal applications that support the sourcing, evaluation, and management of our investments. This is a highly hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving real business problems through technology and is comfortable working across data engineering, back-end development, and practical front-end development.
Your responsibilities:
- Take ownership of our data platform architecture and keep it evolving, making the day-to-day technical choices across data modelling, orchestration, integration patterns, performance and maintainability.
- Partner with the Security Team to define how enterprise knowledge should be securely exposed to LLMs, agents and internal applications to enable efficient business workflows.
- Own the data & AI roadmap: set priorities together with business stakeholders, sequence the work, and make transparent trade-offs on what gets built when.
- Contribute to engineering standards and best practices through code reviews, testing, documentation and reusable components, while supporting more junior engineers through collaboration and technical guidance.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members through collaboration, code reviews, and documentation.
- Design, build, and maintain robust end-to-end data pipelines supporting real-time and batch ingestion of venture, private equity, and fund-of-funds data.
- Transform raw, unstructured enterprise content into rich, structured, permission-aware representations optimized for search, retrieval and LLM-powered analysis helping to automate and enhance investment research workflows.
- Partner closely with the various teams to define how enterprise knowledge should be exposed to LLMs/agents/web-app to establish an efficient and secure business workflow with agents.
- Rapidly prototype innovative data and AI products, gather user feedback, and turn successful prototypes into reliable production-grade tools.
Who you are:
- You have several years of relevant working experience in data engineering and / or software engineering.
- You hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
- You enjoy helping others succeed and have ideally contributed to the development of team members through mentoring, coaching, knowledge sharing, or technical leadership.
- You have acted as technical lead for a small development team, setting direction, coordinating delivery and reviewing quality.
- You have a track record of owning a data platform or a significant part of one, delivering production-grade solutions from architecture and technical design through deployment, support and continuous improvement.
- You understand core data engineering principles including data modelling, orchestration, testing, observability, performance and software engineering best practices, and can set them as standards for a whole platform.
- You are comfortable owning platform-level concerns such as cost, scalability, access control, governance and vendor/tooling choices.
- You have hands-on experience building data-intensive applications, including ELT pipelines and workflows that process both structured and unstructured data.
- You are proficient in Python, SQL, dbt and Dagster, with experience developing on modern data warehouses such as Snowflake, Fabric, or similar technologies/tools.
- You are product-oriented and focused on building tools that are useful, intuitive, reliable, and widely adopted by their users.
- You enjoy collaborating effectively with others, communicate clearly, share progress proactively, and respond constructively to direct feedback.
- You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, making sound technical trade-offs, and taking ownership from concept through delivery.
- You have strong written and spoken English skills and a genuine interest in investment, technology, and applied AI.
- You actively incorporate AI tools and LLMs into your workflow.
