🧭 About the Role
Our client operates in the financial technology sector. We are seeking a Lead / Senior Data Engineer to design and scale a modern cloud-based data platform supporting financial analytics and AI workflows. You will work across architecture, pipeline development, data quality, and production operations, with significant ownership over technical decisions. This role is ideal for a proactive, autonomous engineer who thrives in a collaborative and fast-moving environment.
🚀 Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, PySpark, and Databricks.
- Process structured and unstructured financial data, including statements, market data, filings, news, and PDF documents.
- Develop reliable transformations and curated datasets for analytics, AI systems, and downstream applications.
- Implement financial calculations, metrics, and KPIs while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and traceability.
- Contribute to cloud architecture decisions across data processing, storage, monitoring, and orchestration.
- Improve pipeline performance, reliability, data quality, observability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with data, AI, finance, and engineering colleagues through code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing.
🎯 What We’re Looking For
- Prior experience in a startup or similarly fast-paced, high-ownership environment is a strong plus.
- 7–15 years of experience building and operating production data systems.
- Advanced Python and SQL skills, with a strong focus on clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Hands-on experience with PySpark, Apache Spark, or Databricks in distributed data environments.
- Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure, including cloud storage and compute platforms.
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, orchestration, monitoring, logging, and data-quality practices.
- Proactive, autonomous, and comfortable taking ownership of complex technical problems with evolving requirements.
- Experience with financial datasets, Airflow, dbt, BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, document processing, or AI/ML pipelines is valuable.
