Data Engineer with Significant Impact

Are you a skilled data engineer able to translate raw data to decision-ready analyses, and want to make a difference in a strong, Nordic media company with a European footprint? Story House Egmont is looking for a Data Engineer for our European technology department. We deliver great data and processes to support decisions throughout Europe.

What you will be doing

You’ll be a part of a small but important Data and AI team working with the media business of Story House Egmont. You’ll work closely with departments across Europe such as the Nordic marketing department, which depends on our data for their subscription business. A large amount of our work is within the Nordics, but also England with, Poland and Germany.

For this position we’re looking for someone with approximately 2-5 years experience, who enjoys autonomy, responsibility and the ability to impact how we work. You don’t need to be familiar with our entire tech stack before you begin, but you must have a technical background from either work or education. You should enjoy complex challenges and be able to balance the desire for a technically elegant solution with the need to be pragmatic. It’s beneficial if you have a good understanding of business or want to learn more.

You’ll be able to contribute to AI-related projects according to your own interest and capacity. Several projects have a data and an AI element, but many are also separate.

Our tech stack

We work with dbt models, orchestrated through Dagster, which we self-host in Kubernetes. Our data lake is in GCS. The data warehouse is in BigQuery, and we deliver reports in Power BI. Some information is also delivered through large language models. An important part of the job is including new data sources, API or file-based, into our Dagster flow. We also work on some machine learning models.

You should have experience with:

  • SQL and practical data warehouse work
  • Python
  • Machine learning
  • Integrating new data sources and imports (ETL/ELT)
  • Power BI or similar

We hope you have experience with some of this:

  • dbt
  • Dagster
  • BigQuery
  • Kubernetes (we work in k8s, but it’s ran centrally)
  • GitHub

We offer:

  • A varied workday in a fast-paced work environment
  • Great work environment and skilled colleagues
  • Social activities and/or clubs depending on the country, company cabins/summer house, and more!
  • An important role in a renowned media company

This is a permanent position in the team Data & AI, and reports to Data & AI Manager Henrik Hildre. The team is a part of a European technology department with teams working on content systems, web development, data and subscription systems. Our head office is in Copenhagen, and the technology department has employees in Oslo, Stockholm, Malmö, København and Warszawa. We believe data engineers from all backgrounds will feel welcome with us!

The working language is Norwegian, Swedish or Danish. You’ll have some meetings in English too. For this position we’re hiring in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. You’ll be formally hired in the country you’re in, with local terms and a base in the relevant office (Oslo, Malmö, Copenhagen).

Application deadline is September 30th 2026. We’ll have interviews on a rolling basis and could make quick decisions for the right candidate. We don’t work with recruitment companies, please apply personally.

Regarding AI applications:

This job description was not written with AI, and we have no AI systems automatically screening applications or CVs. All applications are read and considered by the head of the team. To make it easier to separate your opinions from that of an AI agent, please don’t write a long and complex application with your AI assistant. We’d love to see a human paragraph or two about what you think is interesting about the position, why you’re applying and what you can contribute with at Story House Egmont. We’re looking for a great data engineer, not perfect language.

Should you have any questions regarding the position, please do not hesitate to contact: Henrik Hildre, Manager Data & AI, [email protected].

Please click “Apply” to apply – we do not accept applications via email.
