We are seeking an experienced SAP Data Migration SME to lead and deliver end‑to‑end data migration for SAP S/4HANA transformation programs. This role combines deep SAP data migration expertise with emerging AI/automation capability to improve data quality, accelerate migration, and reduce delivery risk.
The role will work across business and IT stakeholders to design, execute, and optimise migration strategies while embedding AI-driven insights and automation into the migration lifecycle. Preferably this role in based in Auckland, NZ. But other locations in NZ and Australia can be considered if the candidate is willing to travel to Auckland.
Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities
SAP Data Migration Leadership
- Lead end-to-end SAP data migration across ECC → S/4HANA programs, including planning, execution and cutover
- Define data migration strategy covering scope, objects, data sources, tools and timelines
- Drive data readiness activities including profiling, cleansing, transformation and validation
- Lead data mapping workshops and translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Manage migration cycles (build, unit test, SIT/UAT, dress rehearsal and cutover)
- Partner with Business Data Owners to ensure data quality, governance and sign-off
- Oversee data validation, reconciliation and issue resolution across migration phases
- Define data standards, controls and auditability across migration lifecycle
- Apply AI/automation tools to accelerate data profiling, cleansing and reconciliation
- Identify opportunities to leverage intelligent tools (e.g., automated data mapping, anomaly detection, code remediation) as part of migration delivery
- Design migration approaches (Greenfield, Brownfield, Selective Data Transition) aligned to business objectives
- Define migration tools and methods (e.g., LSMW, ETL tools, custom routines) based on object complexity and volume
- Work across SAP modules (FI/CO, MM, SD, etc.) ensuring integration and data consistency
- Act as SME advisor to clients and senior stakeholders on migration strategy and risks and ensure high quality delivery
- Extensive SAP experience with strong focus on data migration
- Proven delivery of full lifecycle SAP S/4HANA migration projects
- Strong experience in data migration lifecycle (data readiness → transformation → testing → cutover)
- Expertise in SAP migration tools and techniques (e.g., LSMW, ETL tools, custom scripts)
- Experience applying AI/ML or automation in data migration or data quality improvement
- Exposure to intelligent migration tools, data analytics platforms or automation frameworks
- Ability to translate AI capability into practical delivery outcomes
- Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills
- Ability to lead teams and coordinate cross-functional delivery
- Excellent communication and ability to translate technical concepts into business language
- Experience with selective data transition approaches and migration accelerators
- Exposure to SAP BTP, data platforms (e.g., Snowflake) or modern data architectures
- Experience working in large-scale transformation programs within professional services
