The Leading Hotels of the World seeking to hire a Sr. Data Engineer as part of the next phase of our data transformation. The Sr. Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining LHW’s data infrastructure to ensure reliable, high-quality data is available for analytics, AI, and machine learning use cases. This role plays a critical part in enabling data-driven decision-making by developing scalable data pipelines and optimizing data platforms. The position will focus on ensuring data is clean, accessible, and efficient across the organization. Working closely with the Business Solutions and Business Intelligence and Customer Insights teams, this role will also help define and implement best practices in DataOps.
This is a full-time position located in New York City. We offer flexible workplace policies that allow for working remotely 3 days a week and require being in our NYC office 2 days a week (Wednesdays and Thursdays).
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery
- Develop and maintain scalable data architectures, including data lakes and data warehouses
- Model data to support analytics, reporting, and advanced use cases
- Ensure data quality, lineage, governance, and security standards are met
- Optimize performance across data platforms and pipelines
- Partner closely with the Business Intelligence & Customer Insights team to deliver timely, high-quality data
- Mentor engineers and promote best practices in DataOps and data engineering
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) required
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or related field
- Deep experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks)
- Strong hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Spark)
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python
- Experience with large-scale data processing and distributed systems
- Knowledge of data governance, performance tuning, and security best practices
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to demonstrate LHW’s performance drivers (Accountability, Adaptability, Collaboration, Curiosity, and Empathy)
Target Annual Incentive bonus: 10%
- Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, and location.
