Data Science Specialist

The research analyst will work side-by-side with the Operating Vice President of Data Science, of one of CRISIL’s clients, a Global Equity Firm based in NYC. The candidate will deliver a diverse range of analytical tasks across the investment lifecycle and within individual portfolio companies. This position provides the opportunity to work in a global environment with top analysts/executives.

The main duties to be perform are:

• Perform analyses to answer business questions leveraging Python and other data science tools,
• Most of the time this role will be writing code to perform analyses,
• Extract and transform data from multiple sources, and develop processes for data cleaning, integration, and validation,
• In a smaller scale, collaborate with the team to develop reports and dashboards using visualization tools such as Tableau / PowerBI to communicate findings effectively for better and faster business decisions,
• Assist with creating the final presentation deliverable using PowerPoint or other tools.

Requirements:

• Excellent level of English,
• Solid experience in programming in Python,
• Good knowledge and experience of software engineering best practices,
• Written communication: Clear communicator competent at explaining technical content to a non-technical audience, and distilling key messages from analysis in verbal, memo & PowerPoint format,
• Quantitative abilities: Comfortable manipulating large datasets to produce descriptive statistics. Ability to implement more advanced models desirable but not expected for this level,
• Results oriented: Ability to thrive under ambiguity and time constraints to develop thoughtful, accurate insights,
• Interest in finance is a plus.
